Forgot to add..... its not just the box to swap, its flywheel too. I think the later LT77s were also put into TVRs that were using the rover V8. In low box I rarely even bother with the throttle in the lower gears, just the clutch alone as tickover is more than enough to get moving along :)

Chuck it into low ratio and you shouldnt notice there is anything behind. The 3500kg tow limit is a legal one more than a question of capability. The reason Highways use them is for pulling 44 tonne trucks out of the carriageway, so a boat like that is no problem.

On the upped power front, there is also a slight ram effect with the snorkel facing forwards, especially as speeds increase. Not sure that even at 70 into a headwind it would be enough to give an extra 8 ponies worht though.
