Disco 2 Blown a hole in front diff

Evening ladies and gents. Just landed home on the back of a truck. Thought transfer box had gone, on closer inspection, oil everywhere and a 10p sized hole in my front diff. Anybody know why this would happen? Got some pictures will add soon.

    M/T tyres.

Yeah probably should have mentioned it was a D2, we gave up on 90s, we came to the conclusion that everybody else wanted them more than us but didn't want to pay for them. (Family had 3 stolen over the years) It serves as the daily driver, family bus, tow vehicle and up and down the farm...

    M/T tyres.

Do very few motorway miles, mostly country roads up to 60 and what motorway miles I do cover I rarely go over 75. It's a discovery 2 facelift. Seems a standard size if I punch my reg into tyre sites, comes up with 2 options, 255/65 and 235/70

    M/T tyres.

Probably 90% of my mileage is on the road, I work 5 days a week as well as on the farm but having the ability to reach areas of the farm by car has its advantages.

    M/T tyres.

Yes I agree it's not all down to the tyres, but they certainly don't seem to be helping me right now, a mate came and pulled me out and he was on insa dakars, he had no problem, I'm just not overly keen on the idea of remould tyres but maybe I'm just being paranoid. I don't use it for off...

    M/T tyres.

I apologise this has probably been covered to death but a quick search hasn't got me the answer. Sat in the middle of a field once again found and invisible wet patch and waiting for somebody to come and pull me out. Thunk it may be time to invest in some M/T tyres, A/T's just don't seem to be...

Disco 2 Light Bars and switches

I like that, tad expensive for what is like. I was hoping to find something that would fit a coin/ash tray so that would be ideal!

Disco 2 Light Bars and switches

Light bar has arrived today, similar to the one in the picture on my original post. Just a combo beam one. I did a little research and think the combo is probably best for what I want it for. Probably going to opt for carling switches when I finally get round to fitting it. Mud stuff happens to...

    Disco 2 Transfer selector

Is it a big job? What sort of price are we looking at for replacement part?

    Disco 2 Transfer selector

Hi folks, Had another interesting occurrence today. Went to stick the disco in low and the lever just went all of a sudden. Thought something major had happened but I still have drive but stuck in high box. Lever just waggler about. Any suggestions? Manual TD5 with traction control

Disco 2 Shuttle Valve Failure (3As)

I did the wiring bypass/mod. Solved the problem instantly and never had a recurrence. I've been told that even replacing the shuttle valve switch doesn't always solve the problem. What I did was plug into the diagnostics to be sure the valves were working. Then did the mod. It was really quite...

Disco 2 Light Bars and switches

Looked at the carling switches, quite like the look of them. Think they will give the tidy look I'm hoping to achieve. As for switch mounting I've racked my brains and thought about mounting them between the 2 front window switches. Checked on the Mud Stuff website and a 3 gang mount looks like...

    Disco 2 D2 Steering Vague?

I have a similar sort of sensation towing, was wondering myself. Was going to get under and check things out. Almost feels to drift ever so slightly towing and needs correcting. Also my steering wheel is slightly off centre when driving in a straight line.

Disco 2 Light Bars and switches

Hi folks, Looking at getting a light bar on the D2, mainly for the purpose of being able to see better on the farm with these dark nights and would definitely come in handy come lambing time. Just wondering what you guys have on yours and how they look. What size fits the d2 best. Looking...

    Injector loom harness

Had what sounds like a similar problem recently and did the same, changed the injector loom, cleaned the ECU plug etc and problem remained. Turned out to be the fuel pump, may or may not be the same in your case. Mine self diagnosed when it completely konked out and couldn't hear the pump...

    Fuel Pump Whine

Hi All, Some may recall a thread of mine about not revving over 3/3500 RPM recently, and it was solved by fuel pump replacement. All was fine up until Friday evening and the thing started to whine. Noticeably even when driving not just on idle. And also over the radio all be it turned down...

Disco 2 Bag or something more sinister?

Problem solved. 2 new bags fitted. All working fine. All went well apart from one bag didn't inflate correctly but sorted it by jacking chassis and lowering until it sat right. One side does seem a touch higher now though but it may be an illusion it was dark Thanks again for your help folks
