    P38A P38 vague value?

There is no problem in driving the car in the OP back to the UK on French plates and insurance provided that a non-UK resident does the driving in the UK. In your case you admit that you were resident in Africa when you imported a French registered vehicle & drove it in the UK for six months...

    P38A P38 vague value?

There are plenty but like all used cars in France rather pricey compared to the UK https://www.leboncoin.fr/recherche?category=2&text=p38&brand=Land%20Rover&model=Range%20Rover&regdate=1995-2001

    P38A P38 vague value?

Was that a UK insurance company or French insurance company? The reason that UK residents may not drive a foreign registered vehicle is that normally all vehicles in the UK need to be registered with an MOT & insurance. When a foreign vehicle is temporarily imported for up to six months there is...

    P38A P38 vague value?

The grace period before you must re-register a car is the same six months that it has been for decades. It is however not permitted for a UK resident to drive the imported car during that six months & never has been.

    P38A P38 vague value?

Nobody who is a French resident should be driving a UK registered car even if it has a CT except if it is in the process of re-registration. The problem is since 31st December 2020 that no French insurance company will insure a UK registered car even if it is in the process of re-registration &...

    P38A P38 vague value?

If it's on the road driven by a UK resident it needs to be re-registered. If it's on a trailer from the entry port then it doesn't need to be re-registered. If it was marked as exported at the DVLA then you need to notify HMRC of the re-import. If it was SORNd then you just need to put it back...

    P38A P38 vague value?

A UK registered car with a French CT is not road legal in either country.

    P38A P38 vague value?

It's not OK if you are a UK resident driving a foreign registered car (unless it's a rental car).

    P38A P38 vague value?

The French CT is only valid if it's on French plates. When a car is imported into the UK it needs to be re-registered on UK plates with MOT & tax unless it's a temporary import for up to six months by a foreign resident. The only legal way for a UK resident to drive the car is if the foreign...

    P38A P38 vague value?

Without passing an MOT it would not be road legal. As mentioned earlier it needs to be driven back on French plates then MOT & re-register in the UK. It won't be road legal in the UK if driven by a UK resident so the French owner needs to drive it (or be sitting in the car). French car...

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Bending a tab on the bulb back & rotating it plus final adjustment with a stick-on beam bending lens was how I got mine through the CT.

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Below is an extract from the CT testers manual that says RHD headlamps are a failure except those equipped with a device making the beam flat (e.g. masking adhesive or specific lamp device).

    P38A E85 (85% bioethanol)

Do you have some actual evidence that E85 is corrosive to the P38 fuel system or is this just your opinion? I have seen posts on the French language Range Rover forum from guys who have done 20,000km with no ill effects.

    P38A E85 (85% bioethanol)

E85 is available in about 1 in 4 service stations. Intermarche seem to have it at a lot of their superstores & Total on the main roads. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/soaring-petrol-prices-make-french-drivers-rush-ethanol-2021-10-21/

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

That used to be the case but they changed the rules a few years ago. There is a document you can give the tester if they are unaware of the change. Some testers just seem bloody minded & will fail with beam benders whatever the rules. The answer is to go to a friendly CT station who are aware of...

P38A Thinking about buying a P38 - Should a new radiator worry me?

It's apparently much worse in the Netherlands & they have crippling road tax for vehicles like the P38. As per the thread I just posted I'm using E85 (85% bioethanol) at 90c/L which has higher fuel consumption but is the price equivalent of 31mpg on E10.

    P38A E85 (85% bioethanol)

I hadn't visited the forum for a while but see that there are a couple of French residents posting so thought it might be interesting to discuss E85 (85% bioethanol) which is widely available in France & currently costs about 90c/L versus almost €2/L for E10. There are boxes available for...

    P38A French CT re-test failed!

Beam benders are allowed & have been perfectly legal for a CT for several years.
