    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Hello down South! Thought I would drop in here and say Hi. I have landed myself in hospital, been here a week so far and will be here for probably another 3 weeks. Love the photos Jai, glad to see it going well. Take care.

    3.9 v8 (very) poor starting

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this one. Sorry to say I am in hospital. Anyway, the thing about timing, if it wanders about it can mean the timing chain is slack, swapping out the chain and gears is no great shakes so maybe something to put on your hit list for later. Running 9 degrees...

    3.9 v8 (very) poor starting

Had breeze through this quickly....... intriguing. Have you watched the timing for a good few minutes -- does it wander? Is the idle speed rock steady? The other thought I had was the ignition timing, what is it actually set to? Is the base idle correct. An inlet air leak is possible but would...

Classic How can I determine how much my RRC was lifted?

I'm not entirely sure that is completely correct to say there is no camber on a RRC axle. The official workshop manual doesn't specifically give figures for camber but makes the point that no adjustment is provided for castor, camber or swivel pin inclination. When a suspension lift is applied...

Classic How can I determine how much my RRC was lifted?

FWIW my '91 runs the HD spring set up (police spec) so red/white springs on the back and green (standard rear) on the front. Hub centre to wheel arch centre is 480mm give or take. I run 235/70/16's, the 235/85 is a bit too tall without other modifications. The HD springs give a slight lift but...

    3.9 intermittent engine failure

I've had a number of mystery misfires and running maladies over the years. I think you might want to swap out the ignition amplifier and see what happens. The other question is whether or not you have any pattern ignition parts? Genuine Lucas is the way to go - trust me on that.

    3.5 hotwire strange stalling

I would suggest take a look at throttle potentiometer - check base voltage then look at resistance and scaling. The other thing I would check is the vac advance and vac advance hose. Do a suck test.

    Classic 94RRC Vogue SE

With respect, look again. The plastic bit on the end of the lock cylinder can be removed, it is held in place with a spring clip, just prise it off with a flat bladed screwdriver. The one I just took off an old one has no number on it but it is clearly handed (RH). Does this help...

V8 radiators with integrated oil coolers

Depending on the year and transmission the radiator could have two oil coolers. My '91 RRC has two oil coolers in the rad. Drivers side cools engine oil, other side does the auto transmission fluid then the third oil cooler (bog brush) in front of the rad and A/C condenser does the power...

Classic Stop light Switch 5a fuse

Just because it is a new switch doesn't mean it works!! (I'm not joking either). If you still have the old switch, test it. As I said earlier, I had a peculiar problem with mine and all that was needed was to reset the brake switch - push the pedal down then pull the plunger out and release the...

Classic Stop light Switch 5a fuse

I don't have a wiring diagram for a '94 soft dash. Latest I have is for a '92 and the brake light circuit has a 10A fuse, B1 in main fuse box, feeds to brake light switch and brake lights. Also on the same circuit trailer pick up (brake lights), ABS ECU and Cruise Control pick up. Good luck.

Classic Stop light Switch 5a fuse

Hold up!! Are you sure this is a fuse problem? Have you checked the switch is getting power and that the switch is actually working. Don't forget it is a two stage switch. I had a similar problem with my '91, every now and again I would get an ABS fault that pointed to the brake light switch...

3.5 V8 with a 3.9 injection conversion runing to rich

Glad it's sorted. Always remember if the engine will actually run it will probably be something simple that causes rough running, the problem is identifying which bit isn't doing its' job properly. Have to say, never heard of a missing tune select resistor but hey we all live and learn.

3.5 V8 with a 3.9 injection conversion runing to rich

O.K. just had a quick breeze through some info I have and it turns out some NAS spec motors didn't have a tune select resistor. In this case, apparently the ECU will assume a "white" tune which is a cat tune and O2 sensors are required. If the ecu assumes a cat tune but no O2 sensors are fitted...

3.5 V8 with a 3.9 injection conversion runing to rich

I've never tried unplugging the tune select resistor so not sure what would happen. I could only suggest you get hold of the correct resistor and plug it in and see what happens??

TPS voltage looks slightly high to me. CO trim at 1.5v is high for non-cat car. Have you checked the throttle pot for resistance and scaling?

3.5 V8 with a 3.9 injection conversion runing to rich

Hi, I'm not sure this makes complete sense. You said this was a 3.9 efi conversion. AFAIK all 3.9's had hotwire injection, this would be the 14 CUX ecu and lucas hotwire air flow meter. Can you post a photo of the ecu and air flow meter, that should tell the tale. If you do have a 14cux ecu...
