Evening all, I'm getting conflicting advice about how difficult it is to remove the rear salisbury diff. Some people tell me it needs a special "spreader" tool and that setting it all up again is a real pain... but on the other hand I've had others tell me it takes a bit of "jiggling/prying"...

Had a chat today with a local landy guy who I've always trusted and he suggested running the gearbox through the revs/gears with the t/fer box in neutral to see if the problem showed.. (either noise or vibes)... niether showed. Which made us both wonder if it could indeed be further down the...

Lt77... but I had the same fear.. I'm guessing to do the layshaft bearing it means box out? or can you get at it from the top?

afternoon all, I've just completed the installation of a 1.22 t/fer box into my 110.. Prior to the change I had play in the front output bearing which meant it rumbled a fair bit. Now the rumble/vibes etc from that are gone I've now found a new issue (which I think was masked before)... at...

How are you finding the 1.22 box? I've been toying with the idea of fitting one to my 110 hardtop but was a bit worried that on 7.50's it might make the low down pulling away power a bit sluggish.

As a little extra I've got a battery cut off switch (the type fitted to race cars that has the big red key).. It's hidden neatly away within easy reach of the drivers seat ;) Might slow the little scumbags down as thye cant figure out why there is no power...

my 110's now got a 200tdi in it.. was an n/a. And it had made it more driveable.. but if your n/a not dead.. why not put the 200tdi under the workbench and keep if for when the n/a goes pop or when you fancy a bit more omph (whichever comes sooner)..

sorry should have been clear.. hub seal/gaskets and the rear pan gasket.. havn't distubed the flage/pinion set up...so for once it's not my numpty fault ;)

ah.. the good old leaking seals! that could explain it... as I had to replace the seals and the rear cover plate gasket not long ago. how bigger job is it to chaneg the bearings? or does it come under the "specialist" job list. :)

thanks for the responces.. The play is end float (up/down/side to side movement) so I dont think the half shafts are the issue (would be if it were roational I guess). If it's more than a breaker bar job to make the adjustment I think I'll have a quick word with my local 4x4 specialist see how...
