could it be the complicated electronics in the pump itself,and as this could be the fault ,to fix this would mean pump removal,and the chance of fixing slim,so by fitting a new pump overcomes the problem?

apparently as mine is an early p38 a fob off ebay should work,with the eka code entered the vehicle should be able to learn the fob,how true is this? sounds a bit sus to me.

yep there are 2 types one for a plastic filter housing,and one for alloy mine is the alloy make of filter is wl 7043? i have receipt for filter and filter but no box,could buy another just for the box if need be.
