    Yep, thanks for that but is that all a service on a IIa consists of, changing all the oil or is there a a different service schedule than what you would do to say a discovery with it being a more mature vehicle.

    cheers for comments - the more I hear of the side steps the less i like or want think i will go down the folding step route - mount it on a box section frame and onto side step fixing points O/H can't reverse onto seat either - short arse + 2" lift = seat is at tit level also amusing watching...

Yes shame about distance, coulda made use of your ones. Also wanna play with welder, recently bought second hand mig, years since i did any welding...

    I can get away without the side step but the other half has little legs and is starting to struggle, I want to make a one off for the passenger side, has any of the experienced guys on here tried this with success?? I have gathered some bits and pieces of square section and a 2 foot length...

    have been losing fluid on my steering also (98 disco 1 300tdi) last bottle of fluid i bought has a 'leak fixing' agent in it, apparently put half the bottle in - 150ml - checked it a couple of times - think it's less than normal - try again in morn

    It's pretty much straight forward after doing mine last w/end. I had to glue 3 door fasteners back on after snapping them off on removing the inner panel. if there is a next time i would cut the wires that need soldering at the old unit rather than try to unplug the connector which is buried...
