    SMS / Tilt

Good tip re. Spare wheel protection, I hadn’t seen those before. Certainly worth considering. You obviously realised I meant ‘Replaced spare wheel winch mechanism’. I’m really lucky regarding my location & parking but just as an added security measure I park my Defender next to the D3 as bait...

    SMS / Tilt

Yes Gary, I read your buyer’s guide and service info. Very helpful, especially for anyone hanging their nose over one. I was interested in the oil pump cover issue. Not sure how alarmed I should be. You’ve done a hell of lot in a year then! Looking at the photo of your strip down of the...

    SMS / Tilt

Gary A neighbour asked me to demonstrate the diagnostic tool. When checking the SRS system it displayed the same error code. I deleted it again and the light went out as before but this time, following several short journeys it has yet to come back on. I guess it’s an intermittent fault and...

    SMS / Tilt

Hi, (Don’t know your name & won’t call you Grandad as I’m much older than you are!!) Yes I noticed you need a tool to remove the airbag but I think I could make one. If the fault is confirmed to be in the driver’s airbag deployment system, I think this scanner is probably well on the way to...

    SMS / Tilt

Thanks for all replies especially all the comprehensive technical info. Yes I had checked all the connectors under the seats previously and I actually found one that wasn’t pushed fully home. When it clicked into place I thought ‘Eureka’ that’s obviously the problem. Most people will...

Thanks for that. Sorry for being vague about the tilt sensors but I was just thinking of any sensor that could possibly be affected by parking on a steep slope

    SMS / Tilt

Evenin’ all 2005 - LR3 Anyone know if there’s any correlation between the SRS and the Tilt sensors. After tolerating the SRS warning light for several weeks and following all the usual checks mentioned in the various forum I arranged to see a highly recommended auto electrician. On arrival...

    Disco 3 Door Mirror Assembly

Quick update Bought a second-hand mirror online for £100. Replaced the original one then set about trying to repair it. Didn’t want to attempt that before having the replacement in case I completely smashed it. After removing the shroud to expose the aluminium casting I gently tapped it back on...

    Disco 3 Door Mirror Assembly

Thanks for all that. Mine is off-side and they nearly all seem to be for near-side on ebay. There are various ones for the Range Rover Sport but I need to check for compatibility. Some look the same but there are probably some subtle differences. Will let you know.

    Disco 3 Door Mirror Assembly

Thanks for that pal As I said I'll have a closer look later but another reason for suspecting vandalism is I also have a van parked nearby and that mirror had been folded forwards (the wrong way) Regarding a replacement the cheapest I've seen is £145 for a standard none powerfold. Mine isn't...

    Disco 3 Door Mirror Assembly

Ayup me ducks Discovered damaged Disco 3 door mirror this morning. Suspect vandalism rather than accident as there is no impact damage. Glass still intact but the top half of the assembly was hanging loose. Still working electrically Not able to have a good look before next week but on first...

    Who'd have thought it!!!

Many thanks. It's become apparent that my time in tech college was clearly wasted!! But it was over fifty years ago and sometimes I can't even remember what I did the previous day. Fortunately the offending tyre was replaced the following day.

Thanks for that, I hadn't realised how much the width can affect the diameter!

    Who'd have thought it!!!

Took my disco 3 to my local garage to see if they could sort out the PDC. The system was faulty when I bought the 2005 motor about a year ago but I wasn't too concerned at the time. However as it seemed to be the only fault I finally decided to give my local friendly garage a little job to see...

    Different difflock tale

Thanks for that James Just wondered why it appears to lock into a third position when you turn it fully anti-clockwise and it cliicks in and stays put till you turn it slightly clockwise.

    Different difflock tale

Evening All Hate to bring up yet another difflock story but can’t find the answer, even after an extensive search. I had the usual problem with the linkage being seized up on Defender 110. I couldn’t access from underneath, so after months of putting it off I decided to bite the bullet and...
