    Judder starting off

Could be the main seal seeping a bit? If it is and has just started then it could last for years. My old Volvo estate had the same problem for 5 years and never gave any bother.

Going to France on the ferry

Eurotunnel doesn't seem to ask about height or length, it just asks you to describe your vehicle as car/car based van, van, camper and asks if you have roof box or cycle rack. Could be an option?

New arrival (ish), car and member.

Like you I bought a 110 CSW powered by the 300 TDI and the first thing I did was make a list of all that needed doing. That was the start of May this year and I have just about completed it all. Problem is you will keep on adding things to the bottom of the list so you will always have something...

    No Dip or High beam

Just thought I would update this thread. I took both switches out yesterday as the indicator/high beam one was very sloppy. Unfortunately a spring, ball bearing and in fell out and some of the plastic is cracked so I have ordered two new switches (the light switch checked out OK on continuity...

Hi! ..& thoughts on Defender for everyday car, please?

I have a 110 CSW 300 TDI owned it since May and it is our 'family' transport (my wife has a small car for her work and use a motorbike for work) so it does all out trips to the beach, camping etc with dog, bikes and all the paraphernalia that the kids and wife need to drag around with them. It...

    No Dip or High beam

Thanks DJ. which switch is it you reckon could be at fault. The light switch or the indicator/high beam/horn?

    No Dip or High beam

Now the short days are descending my lights have decided to play silly buggers. When I move the light switch I get side lights and a dull glow from the halogen main bulb on both side. When I move it to the second position to bring on the dip beam I get only side lights, nothing from the main...

    Defender 300TDI Temperature

Mine (300tdi 110) also runs just under half when moving and halfway when stationary. Not sure if it is right but seems to be the consensus in this thread.

    My Berkshire Land Rover challenge

I would contact my local Trading Standards as it may be there have been other or similar complaints about the same business. If there has been a series of complaints they are investigating it suggests a 'rogue trader' if you are the first complaint it may be they have just got badly wrong in...

    Viscous coupling - compatability

I am looking to replace the viscous coupling as the bearing seems to have some play and I don't want it to make a break for freedom and trash my radiator so I have been researching on Ebay for the 300 TDI. My question is are the 200 and 300 (and indeed V8 ) couplngs the same unit? Some sellers...

making oil catch tank for td any help?

Good point Wolf, It may be the case but many older vehicles left the showroom that way. I have an old Moto Guzzi motorcycle designed and still running with a vent pipe exiting behind the number plate.

making oil catch tank for td any help?

If it isn't breathing too heavily you could just point the breather pipe to atmosphere or better still the chassis and have an automatic rust prevention system

Sprog's Shouting His New 110 Thread.

Nice one and proof that putting some miles on it sorts it out without spending loads on it. Look forward to following your thread :clap2::clap2:

    Got it!

Looks great!! I got a 98 110 CSW back in May and have never been busier but I reckon that is true of most vehicles that age and I enjoy the fact that most jobs I can do myself. It is also surprisingly 'compact' when driving it and can swallow a huge amount of people and or 'stuff' Enjoy...

    Broquet Fuel Catalyst

In a previous life I ran a 2 litre Renault petrol estate. After two years I fitted Broquet pellets and noticed an increase in mpg but the big difference was in the emissions test when every year with the Broquet the tester commented that the emissions were incredibly low for an old, high mile...

    Steering wheel needed 36 spline

A mixture of chancing my arm and sheer desperation I guess. :ballchain: Thanks Dodgyrob but the Defenderbits one is a steering wheel only with no boss. There is a Kahn option but that is £900:eek: I will continue my search David

    Steering wheel needed 36 spline

Sorry I know I am posting this in the wrong place but I can't seem to post in the wanted section (probably because I am a newbie?) Due to a clumsy attempt to steal my Defender the steering wheel was cut to remove the security bar. I still have my LR but the steering wheel is now an MOT fail...
