300 tdi. Crank, is it going to cause problems??

Well finally got back to doing my engine. This what i found after getting the crank pully off. Now it looks like the woodruff key as been welded in to repair some damage. Is this going to cause problems with the strip down, as the rest of the crank seems in fine fettle? Simon

Weird vibration and power steering box..

Well after using the TD5 for a trip down to dorset this weekend i have noticed a vibration at about 2000-2500 revs. After searching on here i think i have narrowed it down to the engine mounts or possibly the flex plate has cracked (its an auto). After having a look i can see that one engine...

Noticed yesterday that the air con does not work. Started to panic a bit as the compressor clutch does not engage when the air con was switched on. Did a search on here and looked in rave, did a few checks and the coil and relays all seem ok. Then noticed that there was a pressure switch in the...

    My 300tdi's pistons

So now having the engine out, I have managed to clean some of the carbon off the top of the pistons, and 3 of them are stamped ERR2412 and STD stamped next to the arrow, but number 4 is stamped with the same number but has FSB 42 stamped where the std mark is on the other pistons. Is this a...

D2 TD5 Auto Loosing Coolant / NOT overheating!!??

Not to sure what they are like on a TD5 but i have just had to change the expansion bottle on the wifes V6 freelander as it cracked/crazed around the cap, and that had the same symtoms of mysterious water loss, but not overheating. Guess it would have done though if i hadnt kept an eye on it. Simon
