New Defender for 2015 first pics

I initially reacted much in the same way as most folk on here. But, it's growing on me. As others pointed out, this is the concept / starting point from which the production model will take some of it's design cues. All concept cars come with ridiculous wheels but if you swap those with some...

MOT Advisories - DIY advice please!

yarp - that'll do it! I had read them already (brilliant help) just confused about specific parts. All falling into place now. The one that makes me nervous is the swivel ball - time, cost and my ability... read a few posts saying that some one shot grease would be ok in the short term...

MOT Advisories - DIY advice please!

Thanks - just so I'm clear, is the drop arm the same as the drag link? It's the 'drag arm ball joints' that need replacing.

MOT Advisories - DIY advice please!

Hi Folks So, my 110 failed it's recent MOT. The main failure has been put right but there are a number of advisories as well which I'm going to try to put right myself. I'm not very experienced on the mechanical front but happy to take my time to do the job methodically. It'd be...

    Syria/Jordan/Lebanon

I was in Jordan for a week in May. We hired a car and drove around with friends who lived there (and speak decent Arabic). The country was fantastic and we didnt encounter the vaguest hint of any problems whilst out there. We followed the tourist trail but I strongly suggest you head to Wadi...

    Magazines

Hi Not sure if this is the right place for this. I've got a stack of land rover mags, plus some classic car and tractor mags, that are soon going to be ditched. About 40 in total I think. I was given them and have read the bits of interest. If anyone's in the Bath area and wants them, just...

    Dilemma

Sold! Think that this has to be the most compelling argument i've heard. luckily she likes having the defender as much as I do and has taken well to the 'if it goes wrong, hit it with the tyre wrench' mentality (this was genuine advice from an AA mechanic...).

    Dilemma

Evening My wife and I currently share two cars - our '97 110 CSW and an 08 mondeo estate. We're saving the pennies at the moment and can't really justify having two vehicles. We both commute each day in the cars (I'm a 30 mile round trip and she's a 40 mile round trip) but I could (it'd...

Carrying Bicycles on my 110 CSW

A friend uses a Thule rack, one if their ride on ones I think. Other than that I think there's a british company that go a big range of tow ball racks but I can't for the life of me remember what they're called... sorry. Let me know if you get one that you like - I might indulge at some...

Carrying Bicycles on my 110 CSW

Welcome! Personally I wouldn't like that much extra height. If you have a tow ball you can get a bike rack to fit this - that'd be my preference if you want them on a rack Alternatively, I've had 4 people, 4 bikes and gear inside my 110 before. We folded down the double split and had 3 in...

    Sometimes won't start

Thanks - I took the spider out last night and it did have a few cracked solders. I re soldered them (with very limited skill) and touch wood no problems thus far. Frustratingly, it happened sporadically so I won't know if it's sorted for a while yet!

    Sometimes won't start

Thanks - it's a defender though, does this still apply? Had a little look online and says that defenders have them in the battery compartment - before hacking it out, are they plagued by the same problem. Would guess they are.

What's the best way of finding out?

    Sometimes won't start

This is still causing a problem from time to time. The advice about seeing whether it clicks when tapping the wire against the stop solenoid connection was useful. When it wont start there is initially no clicking but it rectifies itself after a minute or so (possibly helped along by turning...

    Petra, Jordan

Hi Tony I've just come back from Jordan, though not with the land rover. It's an amazing place and I really recommend you get further south in the country to Wadi Rum. We hopped on the back of a locals 4x4 for a tour but would have loved to have had our defender with us. It's a massive area of...

Thanks Lynall - will take a look next time it plays up.

    Sometimes won't start

I've got a '97 110 300tdi which has adopted a new annoying habit. Typically after running and then turning it off for 5-15 mins, it won't start. The engine is turning over and battery is strong but it won't fire. If I leave it for a few minutes it then fires up fine. Anyone got any ideas...

    Rear door lock

Now, I know that defender door locks are crap... The drivers door can be opened with a tea spoon. However, the lock on the rear load area door seems stronger / better / less crap. Is this the case; e.g. Can it be reasonably relied upon to secure the load area? Cheers

    Wheels

It seems that most replacement s for defenders come shod on new steel wheels. A lot of the threads on here talk of new tyres coming on modulars etc... I don't understand why you don't just reuse the existing wheels. Most land rovers come with them, after all. Might be a stupid question...

    Hello

Hello folks I've posted a few times but thought I should introduce myself. We purchased a 97 110 csw 300tdi over the summer - it's our first land rover and loving it so far. I live in somerset. The plan is to use it for overlanding, doing more adventurous trips each year. We're planning a...
