Hi Steve, I don't think the twin batteries are standard. As yours is the super posh version they added the second battery to cope with the extra electrical demand. If yours has the top spec AC/climate system then the rear passenger system is fed by an additional AC unit (yes, they have 2!)...

When you turn the key in the drivers door, can you feel any resistance? or is it kind of free? If there's nothing then I'd have to agree with wammers, you either knocked something when replacing the latch and using the key finished it off, or it was on it's last legs anyway and bum timing for...

Doesn't it lock you out completely after 3 ish attempts, then you have to wait for the system to reset? Funnily enough I read something in the manual that said after 2 attempts to open and close the door, resets the counter I think.

If it has any warranty left on it get it booked in asap before you fiddle with things, less chance of landrover saying you've done something to it. Check the dvd/sat nav unit in the boot, loose connector or moisture.

Sounds like an electrical gremlin. Check that everywhere that should be dry is, fuse boxes, carpets boot etc. Depending on the year and engine, I do recall there being a water ingress problem in the boot area, around the autochanger/sat nav units. We need to know what engine and year really but...

As has already been said, you need to get it on a nanocom, that way you can read live data and gives you an idea of where to start.
