the 3 glow plugs have the wires on them and linked together except the fourth one which is the one that will not come out.

3 of the glow plugs that i can get to have wires, but the other one which you can not get to has the wire missing. sorry for the confusion.

Just looking for some feedback on the famous IRD and VC on the freelander. is it best to recon the IRD or can do you do anything before you drop all and make 2 wheel drive. would be interested in what you guys thing.

Thanks mate, you would be right and i have been looking up some threads on and the jeep will start with 3 glow plugs. some guys have said that they had problems with cold starting which i have which is she cranks over for 30 seconds or so before the engine starts and after that the car starts...

thanks for the reply , but is the fuel pump that is in the way and it is the same problem any way. i took it to a mechanic who thinks he could have a go, so i will let you know how he gets on .

Well it was suspect at some point, but it did show signs of it and i replaced the head gasket and thermostat. the season for the sale was the ird was noisey and high mpg.

just a sucker at heart, but they are a challenge to say the least and i have the DI this time, but i have a slight noise from the ird area. so i may have money to spent in the future, or is there a way of testing it first.

I starting replacing the glow plugs on the Lseries engine and was beat by the lack of light, but the glow plug beside the pump is not easy removed. So any tips on how to remove that one, and i have the other ones fitted:D:D

What is the story on the landrover diesel engine 20L in the freelander. i have just got one for handy money and i need a bit of advice on this engine. 126000 miles and is going like a swiss watch.:D it is the yr 2000 model.
