    Under-powered no more

Result then! Leaking sunroof..............yes I too have that annoying issue! I'll get around to it when I remember to make a mental note when it's raining and remember to do it when it's dry!

    300tdi disco td5 headlight conv

I can see why if you had an early series 2 and also changed the rear light set up but a TDi, is it worth it as the bits are not exactly cheap? You would have a late front and a series 1 rear no matter what. Private plate won't disguise it.

    New to landy zone

Welcome, I was in East Tamaki a couple of weeks ago for two weeks on business. Also spent a couple of days in Rotorua. I digress.............Saw plenty of series 1's out there, not so many series 2's. I know diesel is not taxed if you are a farmer etc, do you pay a separate premium if...

    TD5 coolant change

Thanks for the info, I knew it would be OAT. With regards bleeding, is there anything to do here or just the normal when filling a system? I know some engines have bleed valves to assist but I don't know my way around a TD5 as yet.

    TD5 coolant change

I want to refresh the coolant system with some new and know that the strength is right. Is there anything I need to know before I do this? I only ask as I have not had it long and therefore don't have a technical manual as yet. I'm not one to make assumptions but would like to know if there are...

    Pikeys

What you should have done is go straight outside with camera and take a photo of them and their wagon, ask them what do they want? you won't see them again! Is your flat/house far from the parking space? Can you direct a PIR spotlamp on the area?

Chip or Remap ? what is the best option.

Remember that remaps are supposed to be done on a rolling road, as they are done live. The power, torque and AFR are checked and stored as the datum program before changing the parameters. Chips are just a generic part pre-programmed and inserted and there is no knowing what it had before or...

Has any one tried one of these

Don't bother, it's a chav extra. You'd get more power by folding down your back seats and emptying the rubbish from your door pockets! :D

How to find out which Model/Version

Does it not state on the log book? I would have thought it would as the trim level may affect the insurance groupings? Just a thought. What does your insurance document show? Normally the vehicle registration brings up the trim code, it did on mine when they read it back to me.

    Driving without MOT

What if: You had a current MOT and was stopped for a spot check and the plod found your car to be dangerous and therefore unroadworthy, what happens then? Just proves an MOT is only worth the test for the day it was done. I digress........... As for legalities I guess trailoring is the only...

How do I get this rounded bolt out?!

A gasket scraper is the best tool, but a wall paper scraper is just as good if used carefully. Also a steel rule works well. Be careful not to dig to hard. Glad it went well, makes a change! Use some coppaslip when reassembling the bolts etc, makes for an easier disassembly in the future.

    Sump PLug

Can you not chisel the head and drive it loose? It'll mean a small sharp chisel or knock something up out of tool steel. Tack welding a nut may do the trick if you can get a good weld on it. Why is it so tight in the first place?

How do I get this rounded bolt out?!

For the head to round off means it is probably well seized. Soaking the assembly in duckoil will help towards lubricating the bond as capillary action will draw the oil into the thread of the bolt thus soaking any corrosion. Heating the local area is best as this will, as said, expand the area...

    Tuning the TD5

I have just banged off an email to my remapper to see if he has done anything for a TD5. He did my MG ZS180 and boosted it up to 200, I was the first one he did and spent all day on the rollers perfecting the map and AFR. He's based in Yeovil if that helps.

    TD4 Bleeding the clutch

Sounds like you have a lack of pressure in the system to enable full stroke of the slave push rod. Are both master and slave sealed units as per typical MGR parts? If so they cannot be bled 100% and are unreliable. If that were me I would be looking at a quality replacement via a Honda parts...

    Front grill/light kit

So what's the hassle? Fitting the later headlights I would call hassle. This is what I could find.

    Front grill/light kit

Does anyone know if the front grill with combined driving light kit is available? I have seen a couple of these and wish to convert mine but alas cannot find them anywhere. (series 2 btw) Failing that I guess I'll have to make my own.

    Torch the f****r

It's part and parcel of used car ownership no matter what you have. At least when the work has been put right you will have a good one. Better the devil you know I say. Buying a good one is pure luck, even good ones can hide things. At the end of the day it's just nuts and bolts and anything...
