    Can someone please help!

Although the engine seems ok, the saga hasn't ended. The two Bearmach pulleys seized and broke the cambelt. The mechanic knew about the washer and I know he's done loads of these engines. The shop I bought it from say the mechanic fitted it incorrectly, but it has different symptoms to to...

    Can someone please help!

As far as I know with the uprated kit, one of the pulleys has the washer built into it and you need to remove the washer in the engine. If you don't the pulley is out of alignment and will rub on the cover and finally seize.

    Can someone please help!

Thank you for your comments. The garage owner went and got a cambelt kit from Land Rover and fitted it for no extra cost. He checked the push rods etc and all seemed fine. Started up engine and all seems ok. We've driven it back and the engine actually seem more powerful but as he did the...

    Can someone please help!

Please can someone help, we've not long bought a Disco1 300tdi, it's been great but we needed to change the cambelt. So we bought a cam belt kit for £80+. We ask a known garage to us to fit it. We've used this garage for some time and they've always been good. We got a phone call from...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Live on a farm with no proper road. Gone through 3 cars over the last two years. All had suspension problems. Needed a more robust machine! If this Disco doesn't do it then I'll get a horse.

    Buzzing Rev Counter

Does my 1997 Disc have a ECU? If I disconnected the rev counter would this effect anything else? If I've got a choice between a rev counter not working or a constant buzzing I think I'll choose the former. :5bdriving:

    Britpart Cambelt kit

OK, so I can get the Britpart kit for £53.50 or the mechanic has recommended OEM for £90 +VAT. The link horse62 (thank you) is for £60+Delivery+vat. I think that the engine is quite an important part of the Disco, so to be safe I might ditch the Britpart idea, sometimes you get what you pay...

I'm going to replace my CamBelt on my Discovery 300TDI. I've found a supplier who will supply a Dayco belt with a Britpart kit.(pulleys etc). Can I trust the Britpart parts?

    Battery problem.

To update this, a 95AH battery has solved my issue. I now have a reliable starting Land Rover. (touch wood).

    Battery problem.

I've since found out that the engine is a 10J. This was a land rover engine but was used in the Austin FX4 black cab as well. It looks like a Land Rover engine but slightly different configuration, as with the electric fan. But it also has the air filter sitting on top of the manifold inlet...

    Battery problem.

The fan is really unusual, there's a thermostat adjuster dial in the front of the engine bay. I can turn the temp setting so as the fan doesn't come on, but as there's no temp gauge I'm not sure if turning it off is a good idea. Getting the temp gauge working is on my list. The alternator is...

    Battery problem.

I've only really been on short journeys at the mo, but on some occasions I've had it running for about an hour. bearing in mind ive also had the lights and heater going. Also this one has an electric fan fitted which always seems to run for about five minutes after use. Not looked at the cca...

    Battery problem.

I've not had my Landy on the road long. But I'm finding the battery keeps going flat after only 2 starts. My battery has been tested ok, I've disconnected the earth over night and when not in use (just in case it's being drained), but I can get it to start only twice then the battery doesn't...

    Battery power

If I bought a 96ah battery, would my alternator rated at 70amps not be good enough?

    Brake caliper

Just to let anyone know who is interested the brake calliper situation. The calliper AEU1719 and AEU1718 were a replacement for my Lockheed callipers. The only difference was that the union pipe connectors needed to be metric. Just gotta bleed the brakes now.

    Brake caliper

I think the main thing is that they fit the axel and discs. I also think they'll be ok. Many thanks for your help folks. I'll let you know if they were ok.

    Brake caliper

So what could be the worst thing if I buy the AEU1719 calipers? Will they still line up with the hanging bolts holes and disc? Would it be the brake pipe lines that would be the problem?
