    2wd with diff lock?

I'm only driving 6 miles to work and back so this should be ok?

    2wd with diff lock?

My front Diff is wining and I think it needs replacing or the bearings doing. UJ's have been replace so it's not that. However I noticed the car will drive with the front drive shaft off and in diff lock. I'm short of money and time at the mo so can I run the car like this for a few...

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

Its got an old Range Rover Chassis (every nut and bolt is imperial), diffs and axels, lt77 gearbox, and a series 2.25 diesel engine.

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

Great stuff, thanks. I'll take a look. What am I looking for? Is it on a plate or hard stamped into the chassis?

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

I'll have a good look at the v5. Before I got the car it had been kept in a shed for 7 years. This is confirmed on the tax disc. The guy I bought it from used it regular for a number of years before storing it. He bought it from a friend who was a Black Cab Garage owner in London and it was he...

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

Well food for thought, thanks everyone for your views. When I bought the car it was really only to get us down the end of our 2 mile rubble drive, as we left the car at the end. But now we got a disco However I think driving a Land Rover is great fun, not to mention the amount ive learnt...

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

So are we saying if the friendly garage thinks it was done before 95 it's ok? Or are we saying really and technically the DVLA would have to agree it was probably done pre 95?

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

So what should I do? like I say, I like it as it is but I don't think it's stricktly legal. I don't want it crushed so should I: 1: Do I buy a series 2 chassis and convert it back. 2: Goto the DVLA (or who ever it is), and try to re-register it as a Range Rover with a SII top, but argue the...

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

On the Chassis I presume? Can't say I've seen one there, will this matter? I've heard some series land rovers haven't got these.

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

There's a plate on the bulk housing inside the cab but the number is too faint to read.

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

I like it as it is, but I'm just worried that it's not strictly legal is it? I don't want to spend money on it, only to find one day the DVLA would want to crush it.

Coil chassis from very old Range rover.

My series 2 has a very old cut down range rover chassis. The chassis still has the self leveler and the shocks are facing opposite ways, as did the early Range Rovers. It's possible that the chassis is 1972 but I have no other proof. This conversion was obviously done a long time ago. All...

    A frame SLU Boge

Couldn't undo the 45mm nut from the fulcrum, so took the boge out completely. Mine didn't have hardly any pressure at all. In fact, not really sure what it was doing apart from adding weight. Getting a standard frame joint and chucking the boge out.

    A frame SLU Boge

So is the boge under pressure. Or is it like a shock? Will I have to lift up the body to release the pressure from the boge?

    A frame SLU Boge

My a frame ball joint has failed the MOT. However it has a SLU boge. Can I remove the boge and just fit a standard a frame ball joint and carrier? Can't be bothered to press out the ball joint. Will it drive ok without it?

    In the drink.

All oils but the swivel have now been done. Charlie's running ok (got his power back), but the thrust bearing is a bit noisy. Hope it doesn't need replacing as it's new from summer. Will finish off next week. Can we have a wading check list? or is there one. Thanks to all!

Well, Where's me gearbox oil gone?! dropped the gearbox oil and just water came flooding out, nice and clear, almost drinkable. But I put in oil a few weeks ago so where's it gone and as I drove 6 miles with it like this does this mean the gearbox will go pop? Transfer box was...

Cheers!, Changing the transfer and gearbox oil tonight. Gosh so much oil! Will I need to re-grease anything?

    In the drink.

Well, I removed the oil from the engine which was gloopy. Washed it twice with cheap oil and fresh filters. Now runs smooth as a nut. Front diff oil was also gloopy but then ep90 is. Rear diff was like old soggy porridge left it all day to empty. Didn't look good. re-filled with ep90...
