Does anyone know where I can find some instructions on how to replace the lower steering box seals? Is it an easy job? Could i do it in situ? It's a non PAS steering box.

Well,,,Changed oils again to the ATF and the noise is still there. Gears change like a dream but always have. Little bit of swarf on the drain plug, which is a little bit concearning as the oils only done about 100 miles. Did clean it off on the last oil change. So I'll just have to see how...

Well, putting some "Triple QX ATF Plus" (as recommended by Ashcroft)in tonight. Sounds impressive! However, noise isn't as bad today. Gears are all still fine. Almost tempted to keep the "Triple QX ATF Plus " until the next oil change.

Have been in touch with Ashcroft Transmissions. They're not sure why it's happened but have suggested I buy a particular brand of ATF oil. Will buy and replace. see what happens.

I have changed my gearbox oil on my Disco (R380 gearbox), and replaced the ATF with MTF94, as recommended by Ashcroft Transmissons. The box now seems to be getting very winey and is getting louder every day. Gear change is still good. If I put the clutch in the noise stops. It’s hard to tell...

Whats the "G" spec kit? The last time I bought a kit it snapped minutes after instalation cost £55. The garage bought on from Land Rover and it's been fine. So I'm wary of buying a cheap one for my other Disco. Was yours a good kit from LR direct?

Where's the best place to get a timing belt kit? There's so many different combinations so which one shall I buy?

I think it's terminal as far as I'm concerned the piston head has chips on the edge and the head has all carbonised. What could have caused this, old age? Head gasket just fell apart, so couldn't see any faults.

The wet fresh oil is in cylinder number 2 inlet which is the one that wasn't firing. There is a breather from the rocker cover that goes to the inlet manifold.

Finally got started. When taking the inlet manifold off, I noticed that all inlets were full on dirty cruddy oil. One of which was wetter than the others. No water though. What would cause this please?

Checked Tappets and they were fine. However, didn't seem to be much compression on the engine at all. Got it started though not on all four cylinders. When it was running (with lots of black smoke), I took off the injector pipes one at a time and with injector pipe off cylinder 2, no difference...
