You are correct i did not mention Diesel or petrol but then i would know it would not be so quick with a petrol engine but found it surprising hence my question that even with a diesel it would shut everything down so quick. I apologise for not making it clearer.

Today I replaced a fuse which had gone on my brake lights. The battery was a bit flat anyway but the nearside brake light worked but the offside did not. I took it apart and checked it. It seemed the person beforehand or maybe before him had bodged the wiring. There were wires here and there...
