    Coming back to Land Rovers

Well, picked the new Disco up today, ES model in Willow Green Metallic and a new L/R cam belt kit fitted. Drives beautifully, everything works but the blower seems to vibrate a bit at speeds 3 and 4. Probably just muck and leaves so i will give it a good clearout over the weekend. Very pleased...

    Coming back to Land Rovers

We dont get much of a choice around here, but it came from more inland, around Maidstone, last owner had it for 12 years. Rustiest cars I looked at came from around London. I suppose they get the most road saltings, they dont seem to bother gritting too much around here...... Allan

    Coming back to Land Rovers

Theres no TD5's around here for less than £3.5k, but, I would rather get a 300tdi, just my personal preference. I did see a P reg 300 for just under £3k. Bodywork was superb, no rust to be seen underneath, everything solid except a few paint blisters ( which I expect anyway) Interior was...

    Coming back to Land Rovers

Unfortunately, thats South East prices and I am looking for a top spec low mileage model! Theres even 200tdi`s for £3k + down here! Most are very rusty. I looked at one last week advertised for £2.5K ( N reg) Every panel had bad corrosion and the boot floor was rusty all the way round. Looking...

    Coming back to Land Rovers

Well, after a good few years away from LR after selling my old 200tdi Disco, I am just about to buy another, albeit a 300tdi. Trouble is, there doesnt seem to be many about in my price range in the SE ( 3K) and those that I have seen have been even worse than my old one! ( which was bad!)...

    TD5 injector problems

If was you, I would ask ( no, tell, you`re paying their wages) to put the "faulty " injector back in after they have sorted the wiring out to test it, and if it works ok, they can keep their new one. I dont trust main dealers, the last RRC I had was 3 years old when I bought it and the last...

    Slow Pull Away

I read an article recently in one of the many LR magazines that discussed this very thing. If I remember rightly, it was written by an ex LR experience instructor ( but I could be wrong, its been known before.....in 1973 I think....) Its a common problem, that the writer seemed to be able to...

    Lr3

Good luck with your taking LR to task, glad to hear you liked the car at the start!! I was speaking to my Brother in Law last week. He worked at LR when they were developing the LR3 and has told me quite a few interesting stories about the car and its development. One thing he did mention...

    tdi200 vs tdi300

Well, if nobody else is going to answer, I`ll impart the little knowlwedge I know about the two. I have a late 93 200tdi. Round about mid 94, the 300tdi was brought out. As far as I am aware, there is little difference suspension wise between the later 200tdi`s ( 200tdi vin no`s after JA032850 )...

    Newbie buying help please

I think you can expect the equivalent of about 30mpg using LPG. That was the reason I was looking for a V8 again, but the Tunnel and LPG, ...dammit... The diesel would be a shade below that. So, dont do what I did, go for the LPG conversion, and enjoy the sounds. You could always make some...

    Newbie buying help please

I would personally go for the diesel. The V8`s are beautiful engines, but guzzle fuel. Lpg conversion is great, but not if you want to take your car to France on the tunnel ( No LPG Tanks allowed) and I think the ferries use the same policy ( I could be wrong though ) I use the tunnel a lot...

    Help Please Help

I think if you read any forums for any popular cars, you will come away with a feeling like that. You must remember, people usually only use the techy forums to help them sort out problems or help other people with problems. Not many people start a thread just to say how good their car went...

    LR3 - Why didnt they

...continue the crease across both doors through the door handles. To my mind, it looks like someone sourced the doors without looking at the surrounding bodywork to see if they matched!! But then, thats just my opinion. I wont buy one now  allan

    Rusty Diff Pan

I was changing the rear shocks on my 93 Discovery a few days ago and noticed the rear diff was leaking a little. Ok, so its a Land Rover, thats its job! But, on closer inspection, it seems that the rear of the rear diff pan is rusting through and leaking, about level with the filler plug. Help...

    No Low Range

well, I found the linkage and adjusted it. Looks like someone had removed the gearbox at some time and not adjusted it. They also drilled out all the rivets holding the inspection cover / surround and didnt bother to fit new ones when they put it back together. So, all sorted, and low range...

    Disco Purchased

I had a look at a Tdi with a non working heater before I bought mine, the garage had to take the whole dashboard off to get at the unit. I should think yours would be the same. Gives you a chance to clean all those hard to get at things though!! allan

    Back to Land Rover

So, I finally took the plunge and bought a Discovery. It was my wifes fault! She bought me a days offroading at the Land Rover Experience in Ashford for my recent birthday. I got to drive a new Disco over mud covered chalk, on almost bald road tyres...... and it was incredible. I couldnt believe...

    No Low Range

After owning various Japanese Shoguns /Pajero`s, I have taken the plunge and gone back to a Solihull product and am getting used to all the knocks and bangs again. I have just bought a 93 Discovery TDi. All seems to be going well, it drives similarly to my old manual 74 Range Rover (!) , but (...
