I was changing the rear shocks on my 93 Discovery a few days ago and noticed the rear diff was leaking a little. Ok, so its a Land Rover, thats its job! But, on closer inspection, it seems that the rear of the rear diff pan is rusting through and leaking, about level with the filler plug.
Help! I dont really want to buy a new axle casing, so a temporary repair with JB Weld will be done next week. I searched online for a solution and came up with a company in Rochdale that will replace the diff pan or send a new one out, mail order. I dont think my welding skills are up to diy on this, and they are in a long way from me in Kent.

So, does anybody know a company in the South East who could replace the Diff Pan?

Rusted through!!!! I couldnt get my breath!!

MY REAR DIFF EXPLODED RECENTLY ON AN OFF ROAD EVENT SENDING PARTS THROUGH THE DIFF PAN IN TWO PLACES,MY LOCAL SPECIALIST www.simonservices.co.uk STITCH WELDED THE ORIGINAL DIFF PAN.THE VEHICLE IS NOW MOBILE AGAIN.I THINK ANY COMPITENT WELDER COULD PROBABLY REPAIR YOURS.A LOT LESS LABOUR AND NO EXPENSIVE DIFF PAN TO PURCHASE.

I have never replaced a diff pan but if i was going to do this then i would cut the old pan with grinder !!! welding the new pan is not the problem but try to clean inside diff casing  you could imagine
I would say try to patch it.

i've got the same problem wiv me front one.
it aint a simple weldin jobby - thin plate to thick steel and an oil-tight seam weld needed.
my local specialist (who I trust) reckons 4 hours and 150 quid to do it.
savin me pennies and toppin up daily in the meantime.
