trying to find the source of a knocking sound in engine bay thats intermitent and found that there is a few mm play in the alternator back and forth on the bearing is this normal? if not does tightening the nut sort it or is it replacement time cheers

i shouldnt think so i'd have to look i've been turning by hand several times to make sure nothing catches before trying to start batteries flat now so i can check and bleed again whilst that charges up

sorry dots and arrows do line up after a couple of turns thanks. so is it the nuts that hold the pump on and then turn it to line up cheers

thanks for the quick reply. done as you said turned it over a few times by hand and the dots are now out of line like they were when i first opened the cover. i take this is its normal thing then so should i just leave this now and give adjuct pump as advised cheers
