I had to renew Gertrude's exhaults manifold last weekend (2.25 Petrol) and I can report that there is NO gasket between the manifold and the down pipe!!! A smear of fire gum and new bolts well tightened and the jobs a good'en!!:clap2: :clap2:

Oil Pumps failed on motorway.....I am told this is a problem with these (ex BMW!) and the only way to sort it out is to fit a new engine. Big job but worth doing - Gertrude is great but not as the main family car!!!!!

Any ideas how I can free a stuck front brake drum on my 1980, 109? I've tapped all round the outer edge and around the bolts, but it just does not want to move. Sods law the other front drum can off with just a few light taps. I need to change the brake shoes ahead of the MOT.

I'm doing same job on my TD5, so thanks for location of Spinner! My peroblem is I can move the bloody oil drain plug, should I be trying with a warm engine or is it common for it the be locked up solid? I have tried pulling hard on the plug bolt head but I don't want to damage it causing more...

Having looked at the rust damage to my S111's rear cross member it seems that replacing the whole thing might be better than patching the damaged one up. Thing is all the books I have show the cross member being changed with the tub removed. Is it possible to weld in a new rear cross member...
