    My rangie does this on and off but seems to do it every time i start it up now. When i try to start it sometimes i have no electrics at all as if the battery isnt connected, this usually corrects its self by waiting 5 minutes and trying to turn the key again, if i do manage to get it started...

    Due to my FIP blowing up, my 2.5 is left with bore wash and it's looking like a replacement engine. If I do an engine swap for a higher milage engine will this effect the odometer reading or am I right in saying it will only adopt a higher milage if you change the becm or instrument cluster?

    Would this only be shown on the rev counter because there doesnt seem to be and change of revs for the engine.

    No alternator fault it seems like a leccy issue but its just the rev counter that plays up

    I wonder if it jumped a tooth and that's what caused it to go bang, it was making a tapping noise for a week or so, smoking more than usual and was a pig to start, the tapping noise started on the same day I found out one of the power steering hoses that come out the reservoir had been sitting...

    Good point I'll get one done in case but my mechanic has Inspected the top of the engine and it looks good
