took prop front end out of ird unit, its in bits, the crown wheel in the unit has lost a couple of teeth as well , made up a cover plate and left the prop off will it be ok like this , and any tips getting filler plug out , its solid , cant budge the bloody thing how much oil do they hold

yeah went through the gears first was like a clunking second and third rattled like a bag of broken bearings

have it sitting on axle stands and when i put it ithe the higher gear its like a bag of spanners so gear box or ird

jacked one side up with just front wheel driving and clunking noise still there tried this on both sides and it is the same, thought the drivers side was a bit noisier sounds like bearings loose

handling ok its a noise like some thing going over a bump no vibration

removed the complete propshaft and the noise is still there like a cv joint or wheel bearing but cant see anything obvious , wheels seem to be ok no play in them, can the ird unit be removed completely and could this be the cause ?

will this be the same on the commercial test , and should i take the complete prop of?

yeah she would nearly stall ,also sounded like worn cv joint ,an awful lot freer now

will check that in the morning just took of the back half ,its a complete differant drive now' and she only does light town and low milage

took the back half of prop of and she is running smooth now ,no noises

removed back end of prop and car is running smooth is it ok to leave it like this

as a complete novice iwas hopin someone could give a description of what to look or listen for , if i new how to check and test it i would have ,hence then i wouldnt not have had to ask

how do i know if vcu unit is knackered

help !!!!!! real bad thumping noise coming from the front especially bad when i try to turn the steering , jack up front wheel on nearside , wont spin seams like its in gear and prop shaft is trying to turn when i do this any ideas , at first i thiugh cv joints but they seem ok

it was a private deal and my mate gave it a good going over , also its done a good few miles since we bought it , so i cant say the guy new if anything was dodgy with it :confused:

thats my prob now im no longer able to do anything pyhsical have to rely on others and its damned frustrating , i would normally have it stripped down and and then worry lol i will try and get a manual many thanks , this is great site steve
