Windscreen issue L322 Supercharged 55 plate

Most probably the top screen trim, I had the same on my P38 (assuming the L322 has a screen trim around the glass). Mine would whistle at 70MPH. Autoglass were booked for a replacement screen (due to a crack, not just the wind noise) and they automatically supplied new trims and clips as they...

    Towing and EAS

If you've just got in the car and started it, and the suspension has been unloaded, i.e. the last use of the car was a heavy load/full passengers which have now got out/been removed, then the suspension will be overheight, this will show with the high level light steadily lit and the normal ride...

    P38 Side steps

Search on this site, it's been covered before. Essentially, only the originally supplied rivnuts will work, nothing else. Been there, tried it, failed, fell out. I did find some on the flea bay, they weren't cheap, but did the job. None available at the mo. I don't know what the aftermarket...

    P38 heater not working

To fix interior lights, hold in centre button on front light console for a few seconds until dash says "interior lights on". It's in the manual. From memory the heater motor may have both wires positive when motor is not running. Check the electrical trouble shooting manual in Rave, goes into...

    How to paint P38's bumbers?

I had to repaint my rear bumper due to scratches recently........ Proper 2K paint and decent compressor gives a good enough result in my garage. :)

    How to paint P38's bumbers?

Ya can't successfully paint the non painted bumpers anyway, no matter what plastic or etch primer you use. They have a slight crinkle finish so the paint job is rubbish, then it peels off some months later. Only the paintable ones are, well, paintable! Suppled in primer finish from LR. So...

L322 - Programming new key to the ignition

The Freelander key ID programming is different to the P38 and L322. The Freelander key will (should) be supplied with a long code, this is entered by the dealer into the ECU. I couldn't even do this with my Blackbox Faultmate MSV, the module doesn't have the capability and Testbook was needed...

    Pressurised Brake Fluid Replacement

Just a note, before removing the accumulator, discharge all brake pressure first, else you'll spray brake fluid everywhere! With ignition off, press and release the brake pedal 30 times. Once depressurised, unscrew old accumulator and simply screw on the new one. Turn ignition back on and the...

    Once Upon A Time........

How much the GEMS injection map effects the engine longevity is undocumented, my later Thor doesn't use GEMS injection and that engine slipped a liner at 88k miles. Mind you, it could also employ a lean map at crusie, Mark hasn't delved into the Thor injection maps, yet.

4.4 V8 Range Rover with a squeak when cold

Try changing the belt? It's a bit of a job I'm guessing, I'm only clued up with the older pushrod Rover V8, and a belt/pully change on that is quite easy, but needs specialist tools to remove the cooling fan. Try finding a local Land Rover independant garage, a main dealer that says they can...

    P38 heater not working

I bet there is a symbol on your A/C control (HEVAC) display that resembles a book with an exclamation mark to the right of it....... As mentioned, use the search, loads on here for all your problems. Just a quick tip on the heater issue, there's 2 blower motors, one each side of the car...

p38 1995 manual diesel crabbing on ice?

In that event the Traction Control should pulse the brakes to the rear spinning wheel (TC only on the rear wheels on your car)? Unless you're only spinning them slowly, the TC does need a little speed to work. Maybe you were spinning both rears and 1 front? That may cause the TC not to work?

    Thats not quite right..

And I wouldn't be driving it until it's checked, if there's a whole bunch of busted off gearteeth in the bottom of the diff casing, one or more could suddenly get caught in whats left of the workings and jam it up - that wouldn't be nice nor fun while at cruising speeds.........

    Once Upon A Time........

The 4.0 and 4.6 GEMS do sort of lean burn, having chatted to Mark Adams who makes the Tornado ROM chips. In an attempt to get the most MPG, Landrover's fuel map leans right off when the car is cruising with light throttle. Mark's view is this is a serious contender for the slipped liner...

Rear crank oil seal - 4.6 auto

Ah yes, now I remember how it goes together back there, you reminded me of the crucifix seals, I rebuilt the engine in my last Rangie some 4 years ago. Without taking it all apart of course I'm not sure where the oil is leaking from, except from the bottom of the bell housing. Guess it's a...

    No Power

I'm guessing the headrest screens will be 12 volt powered and not mains with an inverter. Never seen mains powered screens in a headrest. But then again, it's a Range Rover........

Rear crank oil seal - 4.6 auto

That sounds even worse then. Sump off as well :( I have changed the engine on my old 4.6 Rangie by myself, and that was a job and a half, so waving spanners about isn't an issue, just could do without a major job when it's cold lying on my back with oil dripping on my face and the...

Rear crank oil seal - 4.6 auto

How big a job is the rear crank oil seal? Remove props, remove bell housing bolts, move gearbox back I guess? Do-able lying on my back under the car? It's been dripping for the last 6 months, not causing any problems, just acting as part of the anti-corrosion system under the car! But needs...
