    I would definatly give it ago. My theroy is, assuming I get the hang of it the £300+ is an investment. By the time I have finished my Disco I will have saved a fortune! and picked up a useful skill in the process.

    That all makes sense Rob. From what you describe about the wire speed and looking at the condition of the tip after a 'go' I think you may have nailed it, the arc is certianly cutting in and out. Now you've mentioned it I can see the issue, at the time I was totally confused. @Oldseadog...

    Thanks James i'll give that ago. Am I right in thinking 'Too fast' would cause the weld to be 'gappy' for want of a better word?

    I did notice my interior lights got very warm. I also decide they were crap and replaced the bulbs for some LED feston's such as these: 36 LED Xenon White T10 BA9S Festoon Car Interior Light | eBay Much brighter!

    That is 2 pieces welded together. I tried to yank them apart but they wouldnt budge so I guess thats ok, it just looks really messey. :confused:

    I had no belt attached to my pump when I brought the thing so that was no biggie. I took it to a local aircon place to have the system purged of the nasty gas.     I removed my aircon pump and radiator. Eventually I will be putting a 2nd alternator where the pump was. No tips on the glow plug though, sorry!

    New pads are sitting on my desk waiting for next weekend, I have been pondering replacing the hoses as well, not because they need doing but while I am there I could replace them with braided hoses.
