I've been offered an early siii diesel for a ton. No MoT, but it is tax exempt. It drives around on private tracks ok. Anything I need to know/check for or should I just go for it?

Mine went through last year with the seats and belts taken out of my 300tdi. MoT tester thought it was damn cheeky but it passed with about four pages of yellow warnings :O Still working my way through the rust, but should be back to 7 seats shortly :blabla:

I think TD5's are based on the lucas type pump which seems much less suited to veggie oil. Could be an urban myth though :)

hmm, good point. just tried it and the alarm still goes off. Sounds like one of the door/bonnet sensors may be dodgy.

yes it has an immobaliser, and it's darn annoying sometimes :)

Anyone got a simple sensible way of disabling the alarm, damn things keeps going off when it wants too and I have to leave it unlocked most of the time. I would still like to use the remote to unlock the doors (not that half the locks work anyway - darn lock springs). Adrian disco 300tdi '95

Traced the fault in the end - was the ignition switch. Everything now works just fine :)

if your talking head bolts and a 300tdi... head bolts are 40nm to start with, then 60 degrees, 60 degrees and a further 20 degrees for the big buggers. browse the web and you'll find what order to do them in.
