    What tyre choice?

I sit corrected...:o Does it handle going off road well?

Tools or assistance required for fuel tank change

I wish I could help, but I'm a bit too far. :( Sorry. Is there any possibility of talking to someone at your new job about help getting there? Ok not the best start, but you never know. ..

transfer box oil / diff oil

Yep. Good old fashioned stinky gear oil :) EP80/90 should do the trick.

    What tyre choice?

Another tyre question! :pop2: Don't bother with 19s the ride would be too harsh. Another great A/T tyre if it comes in a size suitable for 16s (I'm on 18s) is Toyo's Open Country A/T. I do like them for their on road manners as well as performance on the lanes. Hankook may be another choice.

    Running a TD5 without a viscous fan?

I'm not that knowledgeable, but the viscous fan seems to be spinning all the time, pulling some air through the rad and over the engine even if the coupling is barely engaged (ok wafting might be a better term!). A leccy fan does nothing until the thermostat triggers it, then wham! Full blow :D...

    Something doesnt sound logical here

Wild guess here: can the Td5 get a vapour lock due to the fuel being too hot? Even though it's injected diesel and not carburated petrol?

    Diagnostic

Sorry for the hijack, but wammers' post may have answered my question. I tried one today and could not get ANY live data for my 2001 D2 TD5 - no air flow, coolant temp etc. etc and this particular i930 had the latest LR updates in it via iCarsoft's site.

    Running a TD5 without a viscous fan?

Mine too. When I last had a nanocom plugged in, the live data displayed 95 degrees.

    Strange noise uphill

Sometimes the ABS control unit makes the noise, but not for long enough to bring the TC light on. My D2 usually does it when driving off a kerb under power - the wheel tries to spin very briefly.

    Terrafirma / iCarsoft TF930 / i930 diagnostic

True, but it will clear faults - so it'll get rid of the 3 amigos for instance. Aye - it's no nanocom.

    Terrafirma / iCarsoft TF930 / i930 diagnostic

From info gleaned off other forums etc. the i930 does not have any programming capability.

    What's good about a disco??

Good driving position, still bloody capable off road in stock form (D2 TC is quite awesome :D :D ). Wannabee levels of Range Rover/luxury trim inside. Good amount of storage space, like a den on wheels! :D

    3 Amigos

erm... don't charge your phone in the car? :) No idea. It might just be coincidence and it might be an ABS sensor/hub on its way out.

    Terrafirma / iCarsoft TF930 / i930 diagnostic

BTW here's an introductory youtube vid of the iCarsoft one (assuming the terrafirma only has Landys in it). SEEMS to do quite a bit.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1EOsDt26KU
  17. DIFFLOCK66

A few pics of the disco

The intermittent spot light issue is no doubt down to the LR auxiliary lighting module. It's a small black box with a 15A fuse plugged into the top of it and it's fastened to the back of the fuse box in the engine bay. Mine does exactly the same, so I just need to get around to wiring the spots...

    winch bumper law

Pedestrians should be more careful, and we all know that Landys don't play well with small cars either! Nowt wrong with big bits of functional metal up front IMO, but that's just my opnion which of course counts for sod all. The authorities haven't banned slab fronted vehicles and they do a...

    Terrafirma / iCarsoft TF930 / i930 diagnostic

So.. these things retail for about £100. they cover all Landys which need it fenders, p38, Discoverys 2 to 4 Freelander 1 and 2. It can access live data and display & clear fault codes for all manner of systems in the vehicle. Think cheap nanocom with buttons instead of touch screen. In fact...

Intermittent Starting Issue from Ignition Stage 2?

I ended up with a new starter motor recently - the original motor shaft was worn, so just fitting an overhaul kit would have meant probably revisiting the starter motor in the very near future. oh well... £170 all in and it's guaranteed. I too was greeted with nothing apart from a click, so I...
