Forgot to say...... The only noise i do hear is a feint ticking noise from the coil at the front of the engine. This ticking changes in frequency as the engine idles roughly. The problem seems worse when the engine is hot.

Oh forgot to add, the Gearbox Temp indicator is permenantly on too (even when cold), I assume this is a dodgy sensor?

Thankfully its already had loads of welding done to get through the last MOT (3 pages of failures) and looks pretty solid, so we'll see. I might just get a garage to look at the steering then :-)

Yes Dr_Evil i do indeed mean a Disco 1 :) what i meant was a Disco 1 300tdi. Re the Airbag, the manual seems to suggest it should but it doesnt have an SRS Logo on the Steering Wheel though
