Just wondering if anyone has fitted a 200TDi into an old auto RRC form the 80s. I am considering putting one in and am curious to know if new engine mounting brackets are needed on the chassis ? Thanks in advance.

    200Di Smokey

It was black smoke, pretty bad with the engine under load. So I blocked off the vacuum compensator and turned the fuel delivery down and hey presto..!!! Presumably the fuel delivery was turned up to cope with the now removed turbos' demand. Thanks to all for the help.

    200Di Smokey

In the end the only difference I could make was by turning the fuel delivery down. Still got all the performance but no smoke...!!!!

    Dirty plugs

I just set my timing and a note here for you. By sucking the vacuum advance I could get the plate to move a wee bit but when using the strobe and unplugging/plugging the vacuum advance I could see a large difference in the timing. So perhaps your v/a is alright. I'm going to try a new pressure...

    Dirty plugs

Perhaps we do have the same problem after all. I took out all of my plugs to check the gap etc and found the right hand bank were all wet after 24hrs of no action. All the plugs were also black. She started up right away and I put the strobe on her to set the timing, running a wee bit rough but...

I've emailed Richard and am waiting to see what hoops he had to jump through to get the conversion certified. Hopefully there is someone in LandRover who can fill in the blanks.

oil return on 200tdi in a series 111

I had that problem too. Mine was just the jubilee clamp so after loosening and rotating it no more fouling. Perhaps your front springs are worn out ? if it a height seperation issue.

    200Di Smokey

Hei there, My 200Di is spitting out a wee bit too much black smoke. Had a look at the Inj.Pump and saw that the mechanic had connected the diaphragm (fuel load delivery housing) to the inlet manifold. Now I'm really not sure why as there is no turbo and wonder if I should blank it off before...
