    Repair or replace bulkhead

Have you taken the dash off yet? I had a small hole under the heater, turned out to be a large hole!

    Repair or replace bulkhead

When I started to investigate the small bit of rust on my bulkhead I found way more behind the dash. It may well be worse than you think. I've patched mine for now for the MOT but it's the next big job on the list.

    Glass to Blade fuse ratings

Hmmm. Interesting. This adds to my confusion just when I thought I might have figured it out :)

    Glass to Blade fuse ratings

Hi, I've googled this but just want to check I have this correct and, as I see that a number of people have switched their fuses from glass to blades, I'm hoping someone can confirm. My understanding is that glass fuses used in old British cars are rated at the current they are designed to...

    Clutch slave cylinder question

I've heard of people driving around without them for years. I'm not sure if it's possible for the rod to actually fall inside the bellhousing if it comes out of place. I guess it could make a mess in there if it did.

    Clutch slave cylinder question

It's a pain to get back in without taking the gearbox out. On the clutch release fork, next to the dimple that the rounded end of the rod fits into, is a small rectangular hole. The plastic bit clips into that hole. It'll feel loose, and may even just fall right back out again if the plastic...

    Used veg oil...

I can't claim to have thought it out, it was a kit I got years ago :)

    Used veg oil...

I run my defender on veg oil. I fitted a second tank for diesel, a plastic 20ltr container, and put the veg oil in the main tank. I have a set of valves to switch between the two. The veg oil goes through a heat exchanger run off the heater water pipes and into the injection pump. I only switch...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted new rear shocks, fitted the passenger seat back in. I then came over all strange and cleaned the inside! First time in 9 years so I suppose it needed it :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a new hazard switch. During fitting the connector for the switch bulb fell off. Guess that was a quality switch then :(

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fixed the washers, wipers and horn working. I feel a fusebox upgrade coming on. Also refitted the tow bar.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Patched the passenger footwell and even spray painted it the right colour! Scraped off all the crappy looking hammerite I painted the new crossmember with and sprayed it instead. Looks much nicer.

    Footwell replacement

I've just patched mine, in situ, by hacking a yrm footwell and cutting out the rotten bit. However, it's only a temp fix for me while I save up to have the bulkhead refurbished, although I am starting to think about doing the job myself. Can't afford a rear crossmember and bulkhead in the same...

    Footwell bolts part number

Cheers, found it in Microcat, it was displayed in a different position :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Repaired my loom at the back, fitted new rear lights, painted more chassis and the new crossmember, refitted the exhaust correctly so that it doesn't bang and rattle and searched in vain for missing bolts.

    Footwell bolts part number

Hi all I've cut a load of rust out of the passenger footwell in my Ninety and removed the two bolts, the ones with the screw heads that bolt through to a bracket. I've put these bolts somewhere safe so that I wouldn't't lose them. Now if only I could remember where that safe place was...

Oh, and fitted new reverse switch

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted new seatbox ends, refitted my now refurbished battery box, more scraping and painting of chassis, sorted out the hi/low linkage and diflock linkage and found I need new shocks now. I guess MOT is not happening next week after all.

    Defender 90 crossmember

I PM'd you in case he doesn't want that sort of info made public. :) What I would say is that if I'd got a local welder or garage todo the job I doubt they'd have taken anything like the care Clive did. Last time I was charged about 3 times as much and they did a really crap job of it. I will...
