    High beam stalk operation

Well, i think i found another clever design feature. Flimsy plastic strikes again. I think that the broken piece on the picture below (it's the turn signal stalk with the PCB unscrewed) could be the culprit of failing flashing mode. I didn't have time to glue the broken pieces (marked with...

    Difference between bumpers

There is a difference regarding front bumper mounted fog lights, they can't be fitted to diesel automatic. Apart from that, i doubt there is a difference.

You can check your modulator for stamped-on product number, regarding to the rangerovers.net they are: STC 2779 No Traction Control STC 2778 Two Wheel Traction control SXC 100010 Four Wheel Traction Control Voguese, the loom and the units should be the same type between the '95 and '99, its the...

P38 retro fit traction control ?

AFAIK you need to upgrade brake/abs/tc ECU and brake modulator, but i could be wrong... i've been looking to do the same on my 2.5 DT. In the end, true-trac diff could be the best option.

Can this memory seat ecu be saved? Pics inside...

To me it looks like the continuity of the circuit can be your biggest problem. Try to gently clean the blueish residue on all the contacts and then check for continuity with a multimeter between the legs of the connected elements. If all are ok, then you have a chance, but by the look of it, i...

    High beam stalk operation

Datatek, the book was what made me think that something isn't OK with mine. I was kind of wondering why the other stalk i bought didn't cure it, but i see now it's a common thing :) and no, i didn't buy a new stalk just so i could flash blind other drivers (but i have to admit i loooooove the...

    High beam stalk operation

Well... i'll survive without the flashing, hopefully ;). I'll try and open up the backup stalk i have to see if the switch failed or there is something fishy going on inside.

    High beam stalk operation

I know, it's a stupid question, but does your Range have a possibility to just flash high beam (driving lights) with a short pull on the stalk? On mine you can feel the two step stalk operation, but the first part of the movement does nothing, and the second step switches between high an low...

Disc Brakes, Whats in a name?

Don't know about the others, but got ATE paint covered discs (so they don't rust) and Pagid brake pads. The difference to OEM is very big, the brakes seem to operate much softer, but still stop the car. I have them for about 15k km and everything is well. The price was about 150€ all...

    Hand brake adjustment

If it doesn't help you can also check that the oil seal between the brake drum and the t-box isn't perished. It can leak oil into the brake drum, IIRC it usually displays as oil on the bottom of the drum.

    Black smoke

I tend to think of it as a feature rather than a problem. When a jerk in a BMW or an Audi (sorry to all the owners of the above) starts to visually or audibly complain about my speed (well, actually the lack of it), i just floor the accelerator. The phrase "all gone up in smoke" comes to my mind...

    Replacing Door Lock Motors

Great bit of info! I already see the prices of the rear-ones rising :P Anyway, does anyone have an idea why would one of the rear motors whirr if operated a few times in quick succession? The whirr sounds like some cogs slipping and for each operation the pitch of the whirr is higher... The...

Turbo Whistle on DSE (NON EGR)

Mine whistles quite a bit, you can hear it faintly even with closed windows. I have another sound though. Under load, when i press the accelerator it produces a hairdryer-like sound with constant pitch but variating intensity, from 1200 RPM on... suppose i have a leak somewhere on the exhaust...

Fitting cruise control to a diesel

Thanks to all for the input, i'll dig into electrics in a week, when my main cruise control switch and nanocom are due to arrive. I suppose the wiring should be there, as until now i haven't encountered one bit of extras wiring missing on the car, all is there, just not connected. Quite weird...

    Swapping Instrument Cluster

The mileage is stored both in cluster and BeCM. The lower of the two gets eliminated and overwritten with the higher one.

Fitting cruise control to a diesel

Datatek, I've also considered this, as i don't find the steering wheel controls that attractive. Are the Set and Resume just push (push - on, release - off) buttons or are they something more complicated (as it is a custom with the P38 systems)? The diesel would only need the switch and some...

Fitting cruise control to a diesel

Hi, I'm thinking of fitting cruise control to a 1995 P38a DT. I reckon i would need a console switch, new steering wheel and unlock of the function in the BeCM. I already have a high line BeCM, but i really don't know if the steering wheel control cables would already be in place. Have i...

Newer Range Rover: would you go for RRS or FFRR?

I must say I'm with Data on this one. When i was looking for a 4x4 the P38 was an obvious choice, just because of it's price. Price comparison was dead simple: 1995 Land Cruiser 100: 15k€ 1995 Range Rover: 4k€ Both 300k km. It's a no brainer to me. Actually i thought the P38 a bit bland...

a few pics of my p38 now i sprayed the grill!

NicP38, you're of course correct. I forgot about the fancy wipers and didn't bother looking on the underside of the headlamp housing, as my headlight practically fell out of it because all the lugs were broken. I plan to spray mine dark grey, in something like bumper or light guards...

a few pics of my p38 now i sprayed the grill!

Yes, the strips are attached to the headlight housing. Take the grill off, unlatch the turn signals from the inside, disconnect cables, undo three bolts (if i recall correctly) and off they go. The alternative is to just mask everything. You'll have to mask out the lens anyway, as the...
