    Bye bye range rover

Freemonkey, i've just seen a DMF for cca 500 GBP on the bay-of-e. I'm in no way affiliated, just pass on what i see. Search for "Dual Mass Flywheel (OEM Quality) - Range Rover 2.5 Diesel".

    auto or manual diesel p38?

Well there is another thing, the manual needs new clutch and a f**king dual mass flywheel at some point. It can get expensive (1000+ € just for the parts). Don't ask me how i know. If i was buying again, i'd probably buy an auto. You get used to manual's lack of power when starting from...

    Traction Control Question

As Saint said, it is very probable that you don't have TC. If the TC light doesn't light up on ignition cycle, it is either non existent or burnt. The only way you could be sure is to check the part number on the brake booster (usually engraved on the front side of the booster unit under the...

    Door open message

I was also told there is a "door open" microswitch inside the latch. I have the same problem which only appears during summer and when the door gets hot because of the sun. I suspect some tolerance problem or maybe humidity/wiring problems.

It's time to say goodbye to my P38 :-(

Thanks rasheed, believe me, it looks much better as a photo compared to reality :P just an old P38 parked in tall grass about 5km of my GF's home. It's a wildlife reserve, but has a lot of unpaved roads, some only for loggers (but i happen to have the gate key, lucky me ;) ) BTW, regarding...

    Baby Seat Recommendations

I'm sure the Land Rover company can provide some expensive models, but they probably break up every month and are then serviced for a month, so you basically need two of them (like the RR...)

    wheel bearing going ????????

Mozz, when my FR wheel bearing went kaput, there was no droning noise, at least not that loud that i'd hear it over all other droning noises in the Range. But the wheel movement was VERY prominent, i'm speaking about 6mm lateral movement at the tire tread. I actually got th check it out because...

    Interior LED's as replacement lights

Bix, LED's not dimming must be a controller thing, as mine dim normally (1 meter 60 LED setup w/o any electronics).

    Interior LED's as replacement lights

My best light mod was a 10€ worth waterproof warm white led strip on the upper tailgate. It gives a superb light to whole boot area and then some. As it is self adhesive i've just glued it to the inside of the upper tailgate and connected on existing light connectors.

    P38 = 3x4?

Grrrr, yes it has cog teeth but they are under a gaiter protecting front CV-joint, well hidden inside the hub. If there was snow in there, TC would be the least of his problems. Plus, i reckon it works by induction, which snow would not change much. Also, the ABS and TC lights would be on in...

    P38 suspension fault?

When mine developed something similar it was a corroded connector behind left side cover of left footwell that needed a bit of contact cleaner. The connector relays EAS dash switch cables to EAS computer under the front left seat. As my car is left hand drive, there could be a different...

    Diesel power loss until 1500rpm

True Data, forgot about that :) must have a picture of my layout burned somewhere at the back of my brain...

    Diesel power loss until 1500rpm

MAP pipe goes from underside of the front of intake manifold to a small box bolted on the fuel filter housing (next to EAS box).

Fitting elec seats to DT not doing anything to BeCM

Not necessarily, check your BeCM sticker first, as I have a DT manual and a H type BeCM fitted. I guess they were differently equipped for various markets.

It's time to say goodbye to my P38 :-(

My dad's 2003 Lancia Lybra SW gets an average of 52mpg with its 2.4 JTD engine. It sure sounds as there is something wrong with her (being a 5 cyl. straight) but still has all the bells and whistles - leather interior, biiig lcd, blah blah blah. I just can't get used to the low seating position...

    Floating all over the road!!

Also check your ride heights. My rangie drives much better after i recalibrated EAS sensors. Front was slightly (1 inch) higher than it should be, but it drove like a mad cow, all over the road...

    Sunroof leak

Every sunroof will leak water to some extent, that is the reason for the drain tubes. Yours are certainly blocked, try to clean them with an air compressor or even better, with a length of wire.

Numpty of the week contender - Petrol into diesel RR

Steve, i completely agree with that. Regarding that Kangoo, i'm just on the way of checking why it smells like something is burning... i guess that 50 km wasn't such a good idea after all.

Numpty of the week contender - Petrol into diesel RR

Two guys at work had driven 50 km on petrol with a Renault Kangoo dCi diesel. Only then a MIL light came on and they stopped. The engine seems fine, as does the fuel pump, but that's a common rail diesel... Anyway, diesel can run on almost anything.

It's the pipe from turbo to intercooler. Examine it for cracks or delamination when you take it off.
