    Ok everyone thanks for all the ideas of things to check will let you know what i find. I did find a mention of shock absorbers on here when i was looking for help before but cant seem to find the thread again.Could the rotational part at the top turret cause such noise ?

    On going saga.Replaced both wishbones and all associated bushes along with arb bushes and lower engine mount which was flapping about in the breeze on close inspection.Aint done droplinks as they look pretty new.The bloody knocking is still there.Any more ideas?

    May be a daft suggestion but could it be leaking from the heater matrix inside the car hence no puddles.You did say it was gurgling on start up from bulkhead area prob this near where pipes go through ?

    Well I have finally taken the plunge and got a pair of new wishbones and associated bushes to try and eliminate this infernal knocking. Was underneath it at the weekend and managed to move most of the bolts apart from the front wishbone to subframe as I ain't managed to get the engine undertray...
