    MOT Advisory ..

Rust is a standard feature isn't it? That advisory sounds like it's just surface rust but have a poke around. Check the bulkhead too especially the areas to each end from inside the engine bay.

What colour green is my 90 FFR help

Mine is very faded, it's definitely NATO green inside but outside is a much paler green! I will be repainting mine soon, not sure about going original matt as it is or satin.....

    Save the defender petition!

I was speaking to someone with insight into JLR who knew something of the new Defender. The comment that was interesting was to think in terms of new Mini v the old Mini. It sounds like it there will be a 'utility' version/versions as well. How accurate that is remains to be seen.

    WD40

With people getting aftershave/perfume for Xmas we had a discussion about favourites and ones we'd like. I got strange looks when I said I'd love an aftershave that had a smell a bit like classic cars - leather, oil, petrol, hot metal............is it just me?

    Passenger footwell

When I was looking to buy a Landy I saw one that needed new footwells and tried to get a price from a few places, they all said they'd want to see the Landy first as it would depend on what (potential) other work was involved. One of them said if the footwells weren't too bad they'd only need...

    Green laning for newbie

Hi, A while ago I found a site/list of lots of green laning events around the country but can I find it now?........ I might take the Landy down to my sister's at Xmas (near Guildford) and wondered if there were any events happening on Boxing Day? Just a thought for a run out to clear the heads.

    84 Landrover 110 - Revamping

I must admit, I have toyed with the idea of putting on my wing tops, as it was an FFR but all the FFR stuff was removed in the past and there's an acne of grommets where the holes are! Either that or look out for a pair of the mast base box things (technical term).

The Land Rover isn't quite as old as WWll ! I only recently bought my first one too! Welcome, this has been a helpful forum for me so far (lost more questions to come).

    84 Landrover 110 - Revamping

Yeah, OK, relatively unmolested! It looks a lot like the first Landy I went to look at, same colour but a petrol '84 110. It needed a fair bit of work and the seller wouldn't move enough on price so I left it, but I didn't realise how rare the petrol 110's were at the time. I must admit when...

    Military spec seats for 110

I just bought a pair of new seat backs (slab type black vinyl) from a seller on ebay - new and only £17 each posted! Just search land rover seat backs and you'll find them. I want a new pair of bases but I think I'll have to go to Exmoor trim for those.

Yes, and that's why you see older piles of crap being advertised for £10K.

    Best seats to fit S3

I chucked out a pair of cloth seats from my Toyota MR2 roadster that in hindsight if I'd kept them would probably have worked in the Landy. They're quite a compact high back design. As it is the Landy I bought has the typical flat type military seats and I want to keep it original. I just...

Fuel tank pinhole - replace or repair?

I'd try the cheap bodge first. Sometimes they just work and last 'forever'. Replace if not and you've lost pretty much nothing in the process. I had a leaking core plug in an old Rover P4 once. I plugged it with a slightly smaller core plug and that metal putty stuff as a temporary fix. It...

    Military spec seats for 110

Actually someone mentioned to me they thought the later 'Defender' versions were deeper which might be the case to allow for the seat to move forward without then leaving a gap between the seat and back. I'll have to check mine to see if it is just the base that moves.

    Military spec seats for 110

Hi, My ex RAF 110 has the 'slab' type seats (the separate backs and seats) and apart from one of the backs they're a bit tired looking. I found some cheap backs on ebay and have ordered a pair. I can get new bases from Exmoor trim but there's two types, 'adjustable' and normal. Does the...
