only thing you need to check is the headgasket thickness,some will have 2 dots some 3 and some 4,if the bmw head has a thicker gasket i.e 4dot and yours has a 3 dot then use the 4 dot one, other wise you risk psitons hitting valves etc

your missing clip is a p clip with nylon/rubber/poly bush in it,they are known to break without it due as you guessed to vibration, blocking both ends takes ten mins and is not a problem with hotspots,basically if you blank the bottom it makes the exhaust manifold a non egr manifold and gas flow...
