i see now , so the cap has the thread in it? , as i have never worked on a steering box before ,( i have just bought this car and it was sold as having no steering) when i removed cap i just undone 4 bolts and pulled cap of by hand, so i take it the thread is stripped as otherwise i wouldn't...

have now replaced the nut/seal and have cured the leak , but i have alot of play in the steering wheel , (like half a turn before it will turn wheels) also left hand lock is fine , but i don't have much right hand turn lock, i have tried adjusting the 6mm allen srew , but it spins round but...

I think i understand now. so the nut that screws on the stud with allen screw , has a seal inside the nut? , so all i need to do is put top cover back on with new nut/seal and adjust etc, i will give that a try , thanks for help

I have a disco 1 , which the power steering box is leaking badly (from the nut with the hex key in the centre of the stud) i have ordered a seal kit for it , and removed the top cover , the stud in the centre with the hex key where it was leaking from is very loose as if it isn't attached...

thanks for reply , I have engine crane , and loader tractor with fork lift tines , so shouldn't be a problem , but if i just change the engine and box , will it come out together ( engine still attached to G box) and do i have to change fuel tank/lines etc and axles , cheers

Hi all , i have a 1991 rr 3.9 v8 auto , and also a 1993 discovery 200 tdi manuel , i want to to swap engine and gearboxes and convert the rr too 200 tdi , which is the easiest way to do this , just swap engines and g box , or can i lift the shell of the chassis with engine still in...

I'm have a rr classic and parents have a disco td5 , but like you i am looking at selling the v8 and getting a p38 dse, as the classic is just too exspensive to run on the short journey's i do , the disco td5 has been very reliable, had a few problems like all LR's but nothing too bad , but...

well have replaced centre box with a straight 2.5" pipe now , sounds good , not too loud , not sure if it made any difference to power , but was worth it for the sound,

Having trouble finding what this part is called , the wire comes from the coil and goes to the bit circled in yellow , the wire has broke of so i'm trying to find out what it called so i can get a new one , thanks
