Leave the EGR valve in place and blank the vacuum pipe and gas inlet pipe. It still looks normal. I think I will avoid buying and EGR removal kit then if affected by the MOT.

Sounds like a timing issue if not a compression issue.. Had similar on a 300tdi before with white smoke. White smoke means you are not burning the fuel at the right time.

Was this one batch of britpart discs?

Just doing a series 3 box. Ebay has some genuine 608283 on at the moment for £23. I have bought one. LR Series and blanchards sell good stuff. The bearmach 2a pinion from LR Series was a genuine item.

Yes ECU chip needs replacing so is this the best way forward but not the easiest?

Mine did cost 1p as that is what I used for blanking. The modern 1p is actually steel. Just MOTd mine like this and the emissions were super low. Next would be to see if I can get a down pipe without a CAT.

Good luck with the purchase. Look at the superchips website as they have a power curve for their chip http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/rr25dse.pdf Try an ITG filter and blank off the EGR first though which gives you a very clean burn and cheap to undertake.
