Range Rover pickup ......R day -7

fair enough :) I've never experienced a non chipped diesel (save for a rather dull test drive) but as I never really use the power in mine I expect it's roughly the same

I'd love to have the space to do that, mainly after my FIP worries! ZF24 to satisfy all your chipping needs :D

What's the point..? If something in the cooling system fails it's going to overheat regardless of the temperature it started at..

Hopefully it won't have gone down to the stops overnight! It should only take a few seconds to rise up if pressure is good. RF receiver is underneath RH rear parcel shelf; it's easy to remove and check, just take care on replacing that the seat release button goes through its hole :)

Range Rover pickup ......R day -7

Make sure that everything works as it should (heated seats probs won't but they never seem to). If everything does then it shows it's been well maintained. Check EAS is quick to rise as you can't really check whether it stays up. Ask/check about RF receiver - a new one will cost you ~£250 and...

Not RR related, sorry, but need help with my Volvo

I had a V8 Disco which had this fault and it was that the module had gone on the distributor. It didn't have ECUs though so it was easier to diagnose

I doubt it, what with the amount of money they must be making out of it

Alarm going off at home and at night

Yes precisely :P I wonder whether we'll see a day when somebody does a custom P38 where they update most of the electronics, to make it effectively a modern classic

Alarm going off at home and at night

It would be nice to have absolute control over all the ECU's - would make putting different engines in them much easier!

    Just lost all the water!

Sounds like a burst pipe then if it's going out the bottom. I'd say find that, fix it, then check (assuming it wasn't at fault) that your rad is getting nice and warm all over. Do you know when it was changed? Do you know if you have the metal water pump?

Alarm going off at home and at night

You've (hopefully) got the old RF receiver, which is a very easy, albeit unfairly expensive :( fix. The old ones pick up signals from wifi etc and wake the computer up, which causes havoc with the alarm and the battery charge.. As said, do a quick search on something like "P38 battery drain" or...

    Just lost all the water!

What mileage has your car done? (plastic) Water pumps and radiators seem to go about 90k ish. If there's water under the car it's not falling on something hot so should be pretty easy to find :) Has it ever overheated? If not I think you can rule out head gasket failure
