    Front brake advice

thanx for comments. Spoke to garage again today, said only 1 piston was a bit sticky and although they said they'd be glad to take my dosh, they don't tthink I need to change em, so I'll see how it goes for now. Still got over 2 weeks before long drive.

    Front brake advice

Had the old bus MOT'd today and as expected, failed on front brakes so my garage changed the pads. They said one caliper had stuck pistons but they managed to free em off and get things working but they said the caliper was worn and that I should be wary in future of any sign that the car's not...

Do my own reply then - it's a gasket and I ordered it from Paddocks, best to renew it I guess.

    Brake vacuum pump repacement/repair

Hi, gonna try and remove at least one oil leak before I return to Spain at the end of the month and was wondering - does the pump to engine gasket or seal (whatever's there) need replacing too or will instant gasket do the trick? I have a used pump to replace mine with but no gasket. I plan to...

Fuel gauge gone a bit mad

Just got round to having a look....when you said screws on inspection plate might be difficult to get out, you weren't kidding! I guess I'm gonna have to drill em out, they're rusted to buggery. Hmmm, first time I've lifted the carpet....should there be all that daylight shining through...

Where is the reverse light switch?

Sorry for being thick - I've asked this before but never found it! Should I be looking on the exhaust pipe side or the prop shaft side of the box and is it towards the front or the rear? (TDi300 1995, later model gearbox) cheers Rich

Fuel gauge gone a bit mad

Driving today on about a third of a tank, glanced at gauge and it was below red but I knew that unless I had a leak, I had some fuel. few mi9ns later it was showing a third again, then it was empty, then fuel light came on, then it was a third but with light on, then empty with light on...bit...

    Brake servo vacuum pump

Mine leaks, it's on the 'to do' list and has been since I got the car! They usually leak from the outer end which is sealed and rivetted on but there is an excellent link here somewhere that shows how to drill out the rivets, reseal and bolt it back together. You need (allegedly) to set the...

    Window mechanism

Ithink the mechanism's the same as a Disco 1, once you've got the door card off it's fairly easy - I did this at the weekend cos my window regulator bust. Just remove the 6 or so bolts and manouvre the mechannism out of the bottom hole nearest the door edge then either repair or replace with new...

poorly disco overheats at high revs(sometimes)

well, if you're sure thre head gasket's ok it sounds like an airlock somewhere or a blockage - maybe in the heater matrix - did you flush the system and make sure it was properly filled, with coolant circulating and the thermostat open? test the thermostat too, even new 'uns can be faulty...

    Occasional non-starting

Just a quick return to this one - I couldn't see any sign of leaks anywhere and I decided to change the fuel filter as I had meant to do a couple of weeks ago when I did the oil. Afterwards, the car ran much better - I thought it was all in me mind but after a few days it is definitely running...

Front electric window - going down too far

Guess me Disco doesn't like wales! Yesterday, opened the front window and it went down, made a whirry, clicky,I've just bust, haha it's about to start raining, breaking kinda noise and, sure enough, wouldn't come back up....and it started raining. Had a look today, took it all out and the curved...
