Hi, gonna try and remove at least one oil leak before I return to Spain at the end of the month and was wondering - does the pump to engine gasket or seal (whatever's there) need replacing too or will instant gasket do the trick? I have a used pump to replace mine with but no gasket. I plan to keep the old one and repair it as a spare. Found lots of info on this here in case anyone's interested: Brake Vacuum Pump 300Tdi - rebuild instead of replace. - Australian Land Rover Owners

cheers

if there was a gasket there i would replace it with a gasket yes. As for repair, there is also an article here on LZ for repairing them. Good point about keeping it for a spare. Ours went in Morocco so we had un-assisted braked for the 1000 mile journey home  should have kept it now and tried to repair it... doh!

aint never seen one repaired ? most of em knock, bet ya cant cure that one :)

the knock can be repaired;)
the brother in law filled the end of the piston with some sort of chemical metal that can be used inside engine blocks, and it stopped his knocking coz it filled the indent that the cam made on it.
