I have two actually. One for the heater which by my opinion increases the cabin noise level. I only use in the winter time if at all. The second one is connected directly to the airfilter - with a flexible hose .. Defender TD5. Lars

It really sound like your turbo hoses (front or rear of intercooler) are not tight. When the pressure build up they start leaking and then the pressure and performance drop. See if all jubilee clips are tight (they do snap). I had one which snapped and I could not see it until I started wiggling...
