hello yes pedal bite is low just off floor i bleed it and must of used 1/2 L to flush it all through to make sure the system was clear and had no sign of air in the bleed tube, was thinking do you think it could be master cylinder?/ this was changed about 12 months ago and its not leaking??

cheers for the reply no its goes in gears of when not running, the over fill issue came to mind when someone worked with years ago over filled engine oil on a merc van, within few hundred miles he buggered the engine as the oil expanded and it had no where to go, was thinking the same thing...

anyone have any ideas??

might have a look at it cuz was interesting taking the ird unit apart n seen what was inside to make it work so i have a bit (only slight) idea of how it works, still waiting to hear about this other freelander misses not to happy but try and get her to put her had in her purse :doh:

well finally have an end to this story it was/is the auto box, did what i said and used the shafts but still locking on the turns so as far as i know it must be the box, but may not be so bad just waiting to hear about another freelander 03 reg with td4 engine gone recon box about 15 months...

ok will try the shafts in it tomo and see if it is the auto and might be able to explain more of whats wrong with it then if poss bring it or get it sent to you if thats ok. cheers

someone i know had a exchange refurb box about 12 months ago n he paid 1600 so assuming around that

would it be worth just have a small part changed if it was only a small cheap item, thought it would be more cost effective if it was out for a total rebuild?? thats what i was assuming and i dont think it would be worth it in that case cheers

yeah but cost will be to high for value of car, heard prices from 800 to 1500 plus its getting colder outside and i'm getting to old for messing around with cars in the wind and rain lol

not had chance to get under car today, but what i did get was an old ird that shattered the casing from a bloke down the road, so i have removed all the gears and kept the section of casing and the 2 shafts that go into the ird. so tomorrow will put it into auto box fill with oil (shouldn't...

ok now the ird is out and all the gears look fine no chewed up bits, looked thru the filler plug and the drain plug and nothing seems chewed, if i put gear box oil in will it leak from where the ird goes into it??? so i was thinking start the car and see if it locks or judders ??? cheers

hello what bit is the final drive of gearbox?? everyone been saying pointing to ird, ird is nearly out now i thought it would be obvious something was wrong once its out lol cheers
