    Ninety Steering Wheel

I know this wont help you for your Defender, but for anyone else reading this thread... A Discovery 1 wheel will fit onto a TD5 column. When I asked my local Land Rover dealer about buying a new TD5 steering wheel about 3 years ago he told be they actually had one in stock..... cost £240 ...

    Vandalised ignition

Glad you did not loose your Landy, but you say that you have to get it home ? Did they break into it when it was parked away from your home ? And how did they get into it ? All the information that you post on the Forum will help the rest of us to protect our vehicles. Best to post it in the...

dodgy lights and horn sounding continously..help!!

Actually, the TD5 horn can be found inside the nearside front wing in between the wheel arch liner and the wing just behind the side light and indicator lamp. There's a couple or three louvres in between the side light and indicator for the horn to sound through.

My Adrian Flux/ULR insurance claim woes!

Me too. I will avoid them. I was with Saga when my Focus estate was back-ended and they gave very good service, provided a Passat estate while my car was being repaired. Delivered the Passat and collected my Focus and did the exchange again when the Focus was fixed. I kept my no-claims bonus...

    Stolen from Work

I'm wondering if someone disabled your Landy while it was parked at your work place so they could return during the night and 'recover' it with no risk of being disturbed. If your work place is away from residential properties, then it is a very strong possibility...especially if you only...

    Can anyone help please?

Why not advertise in one of the Land Rover magazines. Last time I did, the ad was free. You could offer to exchange your bumper for a standard bumper, there must be someone out there planning to fit a winch to their Disco.

    Ratty's Poll - Security devices.

Well, with a Defender you could move the seat all the way forward and run a padlock and chain from the release bar on the front of the seat and through the steering wheel. Can't sit in the seat or steer. It's not high tech but it's simple to do and anything...

    Dual Alternators & Batteries

You are quite right, I had not heard of dual alternators before. The main point I was making was whether there was room to fit two alternators, and that I thought it simpler to have a split charge system. After all that set up has been available as an optional extra on Land Rovers going...

Any probs with travelling with english reg landy in Eire ?

I would not want to go over there in an ex-WD Land Rover still in its Nato paintwork or to display a Union Jack on the vehicle....

Recall Information, second hand car check

If you ask them nicely, your friendly Land Rover approved dealership should be able to check for you. After all a data base would save Land Rover from paying out twice for any such work done on the same vehicle. You could also make the inquiry yourself direct to Land Rover, if you phone ask...

Err what's this and why is it leaking, help

Yes it's a leak of the power steering fluid, most likely caused by a seal failing after holding the steering on full lock for too long.

    Dual Alternators & Batteries

I think you would best fit a split charge system with two batteries and one good alternator. If you fit a second alternator, where on earth can you find room for it ? And can you run it off an existing drive belt ? Would you have to fit an extra pulley somewhere ? I also think it would be...

Defender 90 and Police Spec springs

Are you sure it's safe to carry four people and all their climbing/mountaineering equipment on the roof ???

    Random question?

Seems to me a sure way to chew up part of the threads on the wheel studs, maybe it could make the stud holes in the wheels stretch.

    Random question?

That reminds me that Land Rover used to fit double ended wheel nuts to Royal Mail Land Rovers. Also the hard tops on those little red 88" Series III's had no little widows each side of the back door.

    Stolen G972 RKM Westhoughton Lancs

Have you been able to get any clues from looking at what is left ?. Are there tyre tracks next to the Landy ? As it's on it's roof this suggests to me that it has been pushed off the side of a flat back truck or a high trailer, and landed on it's roof.... probably the drip rail on the edge of...

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

This vehicle in my opinion is a 90". All the visible parts are correct for a 90". The windscreen dummy hinges look strange, but you can't see clearly what they are. Could be a series bulkhead with the windscreen hinge brackets cut off and plates bolted on in their place to join the screen...
