What about the small pipe from the rad to the header tank? is it blocked? causing it to overheat/over pressurised and dump water out the overflow??

My old p38 up for grabs again...

My cortina mk4 engine failed at 80,000 miles, capri around the same. In more recent years I had a couple of rover 420 diesels that covered 260,000 miles and 329,000 miles without a problem. I would say more modern cars last longer as a general rule even though there are bound to be exceptions.

    What's it worth

You all are missing one point, it should weigh in for scrap when you are finished for around £350 depending on price per ton offered at your local scrap metal merchant. Find out what your local place is paying per ton, you may get a pleasant surprise.

    Drivers Window

My window used to come up at an angle, turned out to be a broken regulator bracket. One corner where it is pop riveted had broke away from the rest of the bracket. The regulator bracket is thin and I would assume it flex's a lot until it breaks one day. With this in mind I couldn't see the point...

    thick bio..

Please look into this before taking any action. I seem to recall reading you can add 1 tea spoon/ table spoon? of white sprit to act as a anti clogging agent. I could of course be very wrong so as I say look into it!!

    eas fault intermittent

I'll keep an eye on this post as my P38 has the same issues. I do find once warm it tends not to do it, so if I stop for five mins and get out of it when I return it works ok.

How long for your heater to warm up...

Did own a td5 (02 plate) and don't remember it being luke warm, thought it got warm enough. Saying that the P38 RR I have now is warm within 1 minute and gets very hot inside, even on the coldest day, BUT it is the V8 4.6 petrol! Seems the petrol version get hotter in general and warmer quicker...
