oh, ok. I have looked under the carpet in the back of the car and there looks to be 2 wires going to the top of the fuel tank. i would have thought that would be the fuel sender unit. So do you think that there should be a high pitched noise coming from the pump in the fuel tank?

Yes is just on tick over. Doesn't increase with revs. It's strange because sometimes it is really bad and then other times not so. Took the it to a diesel injector garage today, they listened to it and said it sounded normal. I would still be interested in other people opinions about how it sounds.

I know it is a strange request it's just I have heard other td4's idling and they sound nothing like mine. I am trying to find a way of posting a video on here that shows the strange noise that my td4 makes. Mine sort of makes a clacking noise. Wondering if I have a problem with my injector(s).

Can you tell me how to unclip the plug from the fuel pressure sensor please. I have had a look at it and cant decide how to do it. From the top, it looks like there is a little bit of plastic that needs pushing down before the plug can be pulled horizontally. Any ideas?

Are you sure there us a high pressure fuel pump there? I have a 2001 TD4.

did you get this fixed? this is exactly the same problem that I now have.

Have checked it out tonight and the compressor hasn't seized so you are probably right that I did over tighten the aircon belt. It looks like the bearing in the aircon pulley has disintegrated which caused it to lock up.

Well in the end I managed to get hold of the pulley assembly from landrover for the air-conditioning pump. Put it all back together and seemed to work fine. We are now several months down the line and the air-conditioning pump itself has seized. Drove to a family gathering with the aircon on and...

Hi chaser. Yes the wiring in the instructions is exactly what I am after. Have actually made some progress with working out the wiring myself today. I need to order some parts and get hold of a connector for the timer. Trying to find one of those on eBay.
