been reading up a bit. came across faulty oil pressure pump, thought maybe that could relate to the oil light and the noisy tap due to low pressure. how much are oil pressure pumps and hard to fit? will be getting the switch tonight!

will try this as £7 i can do :) would be nice if simple fix.

Replaced my vacum pump with a new one- chasing the death knock! anyway once I had replaced the vacum pump there was no noise change at all, so this pump is good. would like to get a little bit of cash back selling the one i replaced. so if yours is on the way out this is for you. not sure on...

ok had a look last nite, checked bolts there were fine apart from the one that was missing :eek: the one nearest the front of the engine along the bottom for the manifold. i did not fire the lump to have another listen as it was ****ing down. but did not think it was from there.....would not...

Ok update, Installed a new vacum pump last nite - guess what the noise is still there! so confirmed not tappets, vacum pump I hope its not what you said ratty - piston the sound is quite clacky..... Ive had to people saying it sounds really low and one of them saying they reckon...

i could venture that way :) & disco 71 is that way aswell, he might hopefully come.
