More poke from my V8 on LPG

OK, a progress report. I did a check on the condition of all my ignition components, which are all in very good condition, and checked the timing, which turned out to be 2 degrees at idle! I took the advice given here to advance the timing until it pinked on petrol and then back it off a bit...

Another newbie question: standard RV8 timing? And what should I aim for on gas?

More poke from my V8 on LPG

OK, thanks for the explaination. My system is much more primitive. Basically a vaporiser and two mixer rings. Still no chance to check the timing i'm afraid as the car is away having its rear crossmember replaced. There is a lot of information being offered on LPG here and i realise that i have...

I suppose I need to verify my timing before commenting further. I'll get back to you in a day or two.

Looked at his advert, it's a single point system on an injection motor, think I'm being advised to go multipoint here?

More poke from my V8 on LPG

I'm ok with the spanners and methodical with electrics so I'm pretty sure I could plumb that lot in, I just wasn't sure it would be worth it.

More poke from my V8 on LPG

I'm pretty sure that the timing is already adjusted to work best on gas, I'm thinking this as it idles high on petrol which I took to be a symptom of advanced ignition timing. Are there any links to converting to EFI threads? Is there a single carb set up that is affordable (not edelbrock )...

More poke from my V8 on LPG

Hi, I'm running my 110 V8 on Lpg. Now while it runs great on petrol, just as you would expect a V8 to, on gas its very flat. Its running a single point system through the SU carbs. Not that i can't live with it the way it is but i've been told that i can fit a more efficient LPG set up to...

    V8 petrol choke warning light.

It's a manual choke. I checked all the cables to the carb and it's all normal. Probably an old corroded switch that's come back to life.

    V8 petrol choke warning light.

Drive along today with the temp at normal and my choke warning light came on. It's never come on before even at 16 below zero in winter. What's it for? Why has it come on? Thanks john

Advice taken. I shall look further for a three and a half!

3.9 Second hand engine, pitfalls for a newbie buyer.

But at 400euros is it worth a punt as a standby spare engine? I certainly can't afford a professional rebuild. My cooling system seems pretty good, on the open road at least. Needle stays constant in the safe zone.

Can you explain HGF? I think I can work out what liner slip is.

3.9 Second hand engine, pitfalls for a newbie buyer.

I'm currently running and old Army 110 V8, it has around 140,000 kilometers on it and appears to be running fine, however i was thinking of buying a second V8 motor as a reserve in case something goes wrong with the valve seats. (its a fear i have after being told that these can wear out on LPG)...
