    Twisted Performance

I don't know for sure the torque limit of the 4hp22 box, from what i read its either 340nm or 380nm. The m51 when stock has 265nm and i can't tell the numbers of a mine with chip and bigger intercooler but should be around those 340nm. But i can tell from the tuned Td5 that i drove that it has...

    Twisted Performance

The same autobox is used in the Disco Td5 and if you source their forum lots of them are tuned. A tuned Td5 outputs a lot more torque than the M51 used in the P38, so i think we should be careful when we say it will eat the gearbox.

    automatic box problems

Your problem could be the torque converter slippage. Its a small torque converter and it slips alot. Try to drive another one and see if its different. The torque converter slippage in the diesel p38 can be frustrating.

    Black smoke

Mine is the same, even when it had the original chip it smoked quite a lot at the start of a hard acceleration. The performance chip didnt help. Since adding the bigger intercooler the smoke is less but still present.

Newer Range Rover: would you go for RRS or FFRR?

I like the L322. But if i had the chance to choose between the L322 with the td6 engine and the GM autobox or the Sport with the 2.7 tdv6 engine and ZF autobox i would go for the last one. Having a diesel P38 myself (which i only drove for a few days without it being chipped), im yet to find a...

    Any help appreciated !!!!

I changed mine for the one that is used in the RR Classic 300 tdi. Its the same unit but the in one used in the 300 tdi you can change just the fan blades or the viscous coupling depending on what goes wrong. In the P38 viscous fan the bolts are soldered so you have to replace the whole unit.

    trans slip

I believe the boxes are the same but the drive plate not. I think that in the diesel p38 its triangular and in the 4.0 its round, so they need to adapt the 4.0 torque converter fixation to mach the triangular drive plate in the diesel. They do that for the Td5 wich also has a triangular drive...
