1995 Range Rover HSE - Some issues to overcome

Seeing as my High to Low problem has been solved I just went out to check whether I could hear a 'clunk' when putting it in transfer neutral and it now won't go into transfer neutral! But, with the ignition switched off I can push it backwards and forwards in any selector position except park -...

1995 Range Rover HSE - Some issues to overcome

@ Datatek "That's probably true. If you can't select low range, putting fuse 11 in is not going to select transfer neutral. It may also be that the gear is not fully selected which could end shagging the transfer box." Mine wouldn't go into low range and I eventually traced it to a loose earth...

Have you ever broken a diff?

My rear diff went at about 130,000 miles - not sure what it was, the local LR specialist fixed it, it didn't lock up or anything, just lots of vibration and they traced it to there.

Help on sourcing rare(ish) parts needed.

As I'm overseas I don't get the chance to wander aimlessly around breakers yards so I was just wondering, does anyone know where I can get some door glass run channels (outer) for all four doors? These are the smart black rubberised things around the side windows which on mine are all corroded...

    How big !!

Horses fer courses; it would make a great desert cruiser! Praps the owner used it for the beach in Weston-super-Mare :)

    Towing in lower height range

I don't normally like to go off topic but that 'Report Abuse' button on Fanatic's posting made me PMSL!! Mind you, I did press it because I thought you were a tad abrupt!

    Service Kits

    Thanks for that :)

    Service Kits

As genuine parts are hideously expensive in my neck of the woods I was thinking of getting one of these service kits with filters/spark plugs/etc which are available online from a number of outlets for around thirty quid. The pic I saw on fleabay looked like a Britpart set. Has anyone had...

The torment is over - for now : /

Ever since I have had this beautiful car I have been plagued with an intermittent fault which has prevented me from using low range. I was convinced it was the ECU, I checked all the connections, etc, etc but to no avail. Before laying out any money on a replacement I thought I'd just spend...

Where the bloody hell is it??

Looking at this link Blend Motor Diagnosis and Replacement I'd say you've got a bit more digging to do near the centre console. You are definitely warm though (geddit?) I don't envy you, I think one of mine is on its way out and I have a warped fascia too so the whole of mine has got to come out!

How much does a viscous coupling weigh?

Thanks for that : ) Anyone got a spare VCU knocking about and some scales?

How much does a viscous coupling weigh?

Hi All, Seeing as parts are cheaper in the UK, I was thinking of getting a new viscous coupling for my beloved P38's transfer gearbox on my next trip to the UK and bringing it back in my suitcase! I know they aren't a particularly large item but how much does it weigh? Also, what's the diameter...

Petrol Prices To Hit £70 A Tank By Easter !!

95 RON is 39p a litre here but it's swings n roundabouts though; because of 300% import tax, a nearly new RR is well exorbitant and a decent 1995 P38 is over £9k. Road tax for a 4.6 is about £850 a year and spares (if you can get them) can cost about 3 x UK breakers prices). Cheap once its on...

    P38 Paranoid alarm

Forget the battery, just pull the plug on the alarm horn under the fusebox. That's what I did with mine after too many embarrassing moments. Never actually got to the bottom of what was causing it; praps will do one day....

    light gards on or off?

I bought mine with both on but I took the front light guards off the other day and it looks miles better, even with the bull bar still on. I'm letting some easing oil sink in to the fixing bolts on the bull bar though coz that's coming off next week! HID's next!

    p38 coil conversion

Mine's on coils - it was like that when I bought it - I'd like to go back to EAS when I can afford it (everything but the springs are still in place) but meanwhile it drives fine, on and off road. It is rock steady on the highway. The only criticism is that it hits the bump stops too often for...

    Breaking P38 1997 - anyone interested??

Well, I could do with: Rear lights, puddle lamps, transfer ecu, interior trim for the tailgate - the one that houses the high level brake light (top and bottom), f/n/s fog/driving light, drivers arm rest (only if it is black leather), rear parcel shelf (dark grey or black?) and maybe one or two...

WOW! That's what the alarm sounds like!

No it didn't :( If I turn it on and it ticks over for a while, or if I go for a short drive - like less than two miles, when I stop, the alarm goes off! I fiddle about putting the keys in the ignition, the doors, pressing key fob buttons, locking and unlocking and it finally goes off but it...

Expert opinion needed: P38 Transfer ECU

Temp. sensor???? I'll investigate that. Meanwhile, I got a copy of Microcat which tells me the right part number for the ECU is AMR5254 for my VIN. Does anyone think its possible that an intermittent fault (and now complete failure) on the transfer ratio motor could be caused by having the...

Expert opinion needed: P38 Transfer ECU

Hi, Thanks for that, I'll give it a go; are these connectors at the end of some of the bunch of wires that include the power wires for the motor coming out of the connector attached to the end of the motor? Oh, and if anyone else is reading out there; I'd love to hear your views on the part...
